Japan municipality map images[edit]

Hello. Thank you for all your hard work on articles about Japanese municipalities, like Rausu, Hokkaidō. I see you've been uploading maps of municipalities; while they are nice maps, the Japanese Wikipedia has quite amazing vectorized maps already in place, such as ja:画像:北海道羅臼町道内位置図.svg. Might I suggest that instead of creating new maps, it would be more worthwhile to upload the existing maps from ja: to Commons and insert those into the appropriate articles.

Keep up the good work. -Amake 04:40, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Per userbox migration, a userbox you created (Template:User Loves Pomeranian) needs to be userfied. Would you like to migrate the userbox into your userspace? If you're not sure how, let me know and I'll take care of it. If you'd rather not have it under your userspace, I can adopt it into mine. Please let me know on my talk page. Cheers, xenocidic (talk) 16:22, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your notified. I have moved it to {{User:Alberth2/Userboxes/User Loves Pomeranian}}. --alberth2 10:17, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the quick response. I updated the usages. xenocidic (talk) 16:11, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Would like to discuss the edition of the topic of "taiwan dog"[edit]

Dear Mr. Alberth2:

This message is regarding the edition of the topic of Taiwan dog on Wikipedia. Comparing to all the other dog breeds information on Wikipedia, the version that you replace my edition with seems to be more of an autobiography of Mr. Chen, which is somehow losing the focus on the description of the breed. Would like to see if we can reach a common ground for the best presentation of the Taiwan dog breed on Wikipedia.

Sincerely

--Taiwan alive (talk) 19:09, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I've just moved this article back to 'Aerial Battle of Taiwan-Okinawa' as 'Aerial Battle of the Taiwan Seas' isn't the English language name for this battle. I'm not sure whether 'Aerial Battle of Taiwan-Okinawa' is the best name either, but as there are no 'Taiwan Seas' in the English language it wasn't an appropriate name. Can you please discuss this on the article's talk page if you'd like to change the name? Regards, Nick-D (talk) 06:48, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please assist to suggest better name? How about "Aerial Battle of Taiwan Sea area" or "Aerial Battle in Sea area of Taiwan"? Are these better than the original name?--alberth2 06:59, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 18:14, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ryukyus[edit]

Thanks for cleaning up my mess. I only realized after 'correcting' all the articles that I got the Japanese wrong. — kwami (talk) 02:29, 2 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

However, you have in turn messed up the Chinese, German, and French: those WPs have separate articles on the Ryukyu and Nansei Isl, and it's their Nansei articles which are equivalent to English Ryukyu. — kwami (talk) 02:40, 2 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Oh~ Sorry. You are right in France and German. However, Chinese "琉球群岛" means Ryukyu Islands in English. It includes the islands in Kagoshima. --alberth2 02:46, 2 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but if you check the article, you'll see there's also a zh:南西群島. Russian has the same problem. The articles need to be merged, but they can handle that on their end. — kwami (talk) 02:48, 2 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
zh:琉球群岛 and zh:南西群島 are write for the same islands. 琉球群岛 is traditional name in Chinese, and the name of zh:南西群島 was built from Japanese. Because some Chinese like to use Japan word to Chinese word. Chinese word and Japanese word are similar. In Chinese Wikipedia, we have discussed if we should merge these 2 articles. However, we still cannot take a consensus. --alberth2 02:54, 2 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, but meanwhile the iw bots will confuse them, and mix up the articles. Whichever Chinese article we list on other WPs needs to be consistent, and needs to match the iw's we have on the Chinese article. — kwami (talk) 02:56, 2 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry if I messed you up. I didn't understand what you were doing. — kwami (talk) 03:04, 2 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Japanese name English name Chinese name
南西諸島 Ryukyu Islands 琉球群島
琉球諸島 ??? In Chinese, there are the name to mean these islands
I wish zh:琉球群岛 can interwiki Ryukyu_Islands and zh:南西群島 does not interwiki. --alberth2 03:07, 2 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your help in these interwiki link. --alberth2 03:13, 2 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I think all the ja and zh IW's are correct now. Polish and Vietnamese have been reverted, so we should keep an eye out. — kwami (talk) 03:39, 2 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I think the English name for Japanese Ryukyu-shoto is Okinawa Islands, Okinawa Archipelago, or simply Okinawa Prefecture. 61.18.170.29 (talk) 11:52, 11 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No. Japanese name of "Okinawa Islands" is ja:沖縄諸島.--alberth2 07:42, 14 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
