Article Feedback Tool update[edit]

Hey Alexwho314. I'm contacting you because you're involved in the Article Feedback Tool in some way, either as a previous newsletter recipient or as an active user of the system. As you might have heard, a user recently anonymously disabled the feedback tool on 2,000 pages. We were unable to track or prevent this due to the lack of logging feature in AFT5. We're deeply sorry for this, as we know that quite a few users found the software very useful, and were using it on their articles.

We've now re-released the software, with the addition of a logging feature and restrictions on the ability to disable. Obviously, we're not going to automatically re-enable it on each article—we don't want to create a situation where it was enabled by users who have now moved on, and feedback would sit there unattended—but if you're interested in enabling it for your articles, it's pretty simple to do. Just go to the article you want to enable it on, click the "request feedback" link in the toolbox in the sidebar, and AFT5 will be enabled for that article.

Again, we're very sorry about this issue; hopefully it'll be smooth sailing after this :). If you have any questions, just drop them at the talkpage. Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) 21:39, 1 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Disambiguation link notification for December 7[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Ash (name), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page John Ash. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

A-Force[edit]

A user from several different IP addresses added A-Force to infoboxes on more than a dozen character articles. I tried removing this because none of the articles mentioned them being in A-Force, but the user restored them all. 73.168.15.161 (talk) 15:33, 31 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Should we just wait a few days before removal and hope they give up? Alexwho314 (talk) 17:20, 31 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Possibly, but they seem fully willing to edit war. I haven't removed them all, but I believe you can see all the ones that were added by this IP on January 29th: [1]. Everything I did remove was added back by one or more other IPs, presumably the same user. 73.168.15.161 (talk) 18:19, 31 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
That's a lot of pages they have edited. I am relatively new at this. What do you suggest we do? Alexwho314 (talk) 20:18, 31 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I didn't mean to get you involved in anything. Normally when I am conflicted on what to do, I would start a discussion to see what other people say before I take any action. In this case, I would do so at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Comics. 73.168.15.161 (talk) 23:47, 31 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I might do that. Alexwho314 (talk) 01:01, 1 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Elise Bauman article dispute[edit]

Hi! What seems to be the reason why you'd like Elise Bauman's sexuality to be included even though she said that she doesn't want to make a big deal out of it? Although, it's the truth and she's proud of it, there's a reason behind why she said this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Whooossshhhh (talkcontribs) 07:44, 26 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I included it because it's fact. Just because she doesn't want to make a big deal out of it doesn't make it any less true or potentially significant. If she didn't want the information public, she wouldn't have made it public, so I see no reason to not include it out of respect for privacy. Most LGBT celebrities have their sexualities noted in their respective articles. Alexwho314 (talk) 08:20, 26 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

While it is true, sexuality does not really belong on a Wikipedia page, nobody feels the need to include when a person is straight, why should we include sexuality only for the gay community? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kirathenytmare (talkcontribs) 09:16, 26 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly, straight is generally assumed to be straight by default. Secondly, there is a strong precedence of including the sexualities of non-straight people. Thirdly, as this actor is best well known for appearing in an LGBT webseries, it appears to be significant in context. Alexwho314 (talk) 18:58, 26 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Creation of Gilpertpedon stand alone article[edit]

New Updates & Messages For Active Participants in the Marvel Comics work group

  • Current message (25/1/2020)

Greetings to you all & a great weekend. I took the iniative to send this mass message to you all because I observed from the article on Elders of the Universe that certain key members of the Elders of the Universe have no article of theirs and most glaring is that of Gilpertpedon/The Runner. I believe subject has become notable enough for a stand alone article & it would be a great idea for someone in possession of a picture of the runner which is their own work (as to avoid image copyright violations) to begin the article. Then the rest of us contribute to the article’s development.Celestina007 (talk) 14:38, 25 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
