The Wagner article is in need of some help

We're in a bit of a pickle in the Wagner discussion page. The issues concerns Social class (sociology) and the phrase supposedly common Germanic past and has now been dismissed by some editors as inconsequential. Furthermore, the name Other interpretations in the article dismisses the general review and broader Wagner analysis to a subcategory under Controversies (mainly the topic of anti-Semitism). Please help. Just take fast look and maybe help in the balancing act. Thank you

Poulenc and Satie

Hello - nice to hear from you, though do sign in so I know you by some more friendly moniker than your IP address! Glad, too, that you are referring to Schmidt, though just a few pages earlier (p.23) he writes: "Later, Auric was responsible for introducing Poulenc to Satie." The impression I have is that Vines' "warm recommendation" was in talking about Poulenc, rather than a personal introduction. Alfietucker (talk) 17:47, 12 November 2011 (UTC)

Hello - in principle I'd be very happy to collaborate. It can feel a lonely process just working on one's own, and it would be nice to compare notes/share resources. Plus, we both seem to have a shared interest in Russian music and possibly other areas. The only thing is that in the "real" world I'm about to go on the road and won't be settled again until around/after Christmas - though I may be able to "pop in" here at odd moments before then. I'm not working on anything in particular, except, I just wanted editors to take Mikhail Rudy forward. My problem is that I do not have any further source material. I basically contribute through small (maybe sometimes inconsequential) edits such as selected/notable recordings/discography etc. and sorting out messy stuff, tabulating things etc. Well my interest is not restricted to Russian music alone. I agree with Ring Cinema. Thank you for your edits. Like I stated in my edit summary, you made really good, smart cuts that were more so about getting rid of unneeded words instead of the material itself. And as Ring Cinema stated, the film is not of typical movie length, so there was an allowance for the length to be somewhat longer than what Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Film#Plot suggests. However, I didn't see the plot summary as being long before your edits; it'd already been cut down significantly some time ago, and what was left there afterward was mostly the result of consensus. I'm not even sure if it already met the Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Film guideline for plot length before your edit, but I know that it was close to meeting it if not the case. Hi Cassianto. I've just done a trans-Atlantic flight, so forgive anything here which doesn't make sense. On the whole I'm very happy with what you've done, though I might reword the Scythian Suite part since the point I was trying to make was it was Prokofiev's first major orchestral work which didn't involve the piano (ie himself actually playing, albeit he conducted the premiere). Also, the exercise has highlighted how much more work there needs to be done on the main article, so I'll be setting to once I've got the time and energy. Irish Stepdance Page

I'll be honest - I came across that page when I was trying to find some background to Riverdance: I was visiting some American friends and one of them showed me a video of Riverdance with great enthusiasm though - for some reason - under the impression it was Scottish! Anyway, I found Wikipedia's Riverdance page and from there came across Irish stepdance. I can't say I know a great deal about it, but I remember Frank McCourt's not altogether complementary comments about it, and reading somewhere that this (as with so many late 19th-century "renaissances" of nationalist intent - including Russia of which I know a great deal more) was essentially a late-19th/early 20th-century invention. So, rather piqued to find an article with not a single citation and which said effectively the opposite, I went searching for info on Googlebooks and fairly quickly found the two references which I put in. So no, I don't claim to be any kind of expert. But I'm very happy to pop in from time to time, not only to challenge assumptions that stepdancing is some kind of ancient folk practice (though I would be happy to see this perhaps provoke someone into finding an authoritative source which can demonstrate otherwise) but also help improve the article in, I hope, a candid but friendly spirit.
