September 2016[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Zackmann08. Thank you for your recent contributions to Sharan (actor). I noticed that when you added the image to the infobox, you added it as a thumbnail. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this:

|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]

Instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do:

|image=SomeImage.jpg.

There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks! Hi there, was there something confusing about the embedded note that you removed in this edit? If so, please let me know so I can make it a bit clearer. The note is there to instruct users that per WP:BLPPRIVACY, birthdates must be supported by reliable published sources with established reputations for fact-checking, i.e. no blogs or other user-generated sources. With identity theft a major risk in today's world, you risk violating a person's privacy when you publish a birthdate without demonstrating that it's been widely published in a reliable source. And as a general rule, all biographies of living people must be impeccably sourced. It would be appreciated if you'd please keep this in mind going forward. Thank you. Hi there, I've redirected Captain Nawab (2017 film) to Emraan Hashmi. When you create a film article for an unreleased film, the first thing you have to do is establish that the film has started principal photography, because thousands of movies are planned every year, and anything can derail a planned film. If you can demonstrate with reliable sources that filming has begun, feel free to reinstate the article with the references. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 22:31, 16 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

October 2016[edit]

Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

I noticed your recent edit to U Turn (2016 film) does not have an edit summary. Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. You can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → check Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary.

When you make changes such as these, they tend to look completely arbitrary, as if you're simply entertaining your personal preferences for an actor or your personal interpretation of who was more important in the film. Please also familiarize yourself with Template:Infobox film and our Manual of Style for Film articles. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 21:27, 19 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
