Welcome[edit]

Hello Avinash Vats and welcome to Wikipedia! We appreciate encyclopedic contributions, but some of your contributions, such as the ones to Karkota dynasty, do not conform to our policies. For more information on this, see Wikipedia's policies on vandalism and limits on acceptable additions. If you'd like to experiment with the wiki's syntax, please do so in the sandbox (but beware that the contents of the sandbox are deleted frequently) rather than in articles.

If you still have questions, there is a Help desk, or you can click here to ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. You may also find the following pages useful for a general introduction to Wikipedia.

I hope you enjoy editing and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Feel free to write a note on the bottom of my talk page if you want to get in touch with me. Again, welcome! TrangaBellam (talk) 19:40, 6 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Our article clearly states:

According to a roughly literal reading of the Rajatarangini, Durlabhavardhana belonged to a low caste and was employed by Baladitya, the last ruler of the Gonanda dynasty.

Jaswant Lal Mehta (or Sterling Publications) is not a reliable source. TrangaBellam (talk) 19:51, 6 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. : I had copy-edited the paragraph; the relevant line goes, To avert such a possibility he had her married to Durlabhavardhana, who was from a low caste. TrangaBellam (talk) 20:00, 6 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

General Sanctions Alert[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in South Asian social groups. Due to past disruption in this topic area, the community has authorised uninvolved administrators to impose discretionary sanctions—such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks—on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, expected standards of behaviour, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on these sanctions. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

March 2022[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Tyagi. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Chariotrider555 (talk) 00:01, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Have you read my sources ? This is just like a propoganda my all the sources excluding Raaj sources too even Government of India clearly says that Tyagis are Gaur Brahmins. But no you are not checking the sources just for the sake of your propoganda reverting my edits and without checking te sources of other editors which dont have any releated stuff to tyagi edit them.

Warning[edit]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you vandalize Wikipedia. You are continuously vandalizing the wikipage and it is against the wikipedia policy WP:RAJ. All the sources are already carefully seen and rejected. Marvel200(talk) — Preceding undated comment added 15:51, 29 March 2022 (UTC) Dont put copy paste you are not the administrator.[reply]

Notice that you are now subject to a sanction[edit]

The following sanction has been imposed on you:

You have been indefinitely topic banned from making any edits to pages or discussions related to South Asian castes or social groups. Please read WP:TBAN to make sure you know what topic banned means.

You have been sanctioned edit-warring and disruptive editing (including ref-bombing poor quality sources) in this subject area, most recently at Tyagi

This sanction is imposed in my capacity as an uninvolved administrator as authorised by the community's decision at Wikipedia:General sanctions/South Asian social groups, and the procedure described by the general sanctions guidelines. This sanction has been recorded in the log of sanctions for that topic. If the sanction includes a ban, please read the banning policy to ensure you understand what this means. If you do not comply with this sanction, you may be blocked for an extended period, by way of enforcement of this sanction—and you may also be made subject to further sanctions.

You may appeal this sanction at the administrators' noticeboard. You may also appeal directly to me (on my talk page), before or instead of appealing to the noticeboard. Even if you appeal this sanction, you remain bound by it until you are notified by an uninvolved administrator that the appeal has been successful. You are also free to contact me on my talk page if anything of the above is unclear to you. Abecedare (talk) 04:36, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Issues with the sources

In your most recent edit you added 10 references, of which:

  1. The first cited source is self-published by a non-expert. See WP:SPS for why this is not acceptable.
  2. The second is from 1896
  3. The third is by a political commentator with no known expertise in the area of castes and the book's subject does not appear relevant either
  4. The fourth's subject matter does not seem related to the article; Google search says that the only 'relevant' sentence is "The number of Tyagi households is about 60 but their dominance in village matters is quite pronounced", which seems irrelevant to what the source is cited for.
  5. The fifth is from 1897
  6. Per in-text Google search, the sixth source, which pre-existed your edit, says "Historically the Tyagis are Brahmins but have now left priestly services and mostly are engaged in farming. In services their representation is very less. Educationally too they are backward", which is not the impression the lede sentence gives.
  7. Seventh source cited: Twenty Cases Suggestive of Reincarnation. How is that a reliable source for this subject?!
  8. The eighth and ninth source are the same and only the relevant sentence is "In May 2000, a Tyagi Brahmin, the newly-elected sarpanch of village Dipera summoned..." Not a basis for making a general statement about the community.
  9. The reliability of the tenth source is at best disputable and, in any case, the chart on page 29 that you referenced in one of your edit-summaries does not support the actual details of the lede sentence
It was apparent that you had mainly searched Gooble books for works containing 'Tyagi' and 'brahmin' and then ref-bombed the article with whatever came up. And then you edit-warred over a month to retain your lede sentence and such sources. This is not the way to edit wikipedia and therefore I am not amenable to lifting your topic ban yet. If, however, you are able to edit less contentious areas of wikipedia for, say, the next three months and show that you can comply with wikipedia's sourcing and neutrality policies, then I will be open to the topic ban being lifted at that point. You can appeal this decision to the administration board for other admins to review but please familiarize yourself with WP:UNBAN and Wikipedia:Guide to appealing blocks (the latter mainly talks about blocks but similar principles apply) before you do so.
PS: The current version of the Tyagi-article may well have its own inadequacies as I said at the article's talkpage but that is a matter for other editors involved with the page to discuss and improve. Note that, as the guide to appealing blocks makes clear, raising issues about the article or other editors will not help you in your appeal. Abecedare (talk) 12:30, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the support Census of Delhi in the year of 1961 mentions them Tyagis a subcaste of Brahmins.

Most of British sources are allowed in caste related articles than they are not allowed here ?

Added one more link from the Anthropological Survey of India 1992.

Topic ban violation[edit]

This is a violation of your topic ban from South Asian castes and social groups. Did you even read the topic ban notice? Did you click on WP:TBAN, as Abecedare urged you to do? It doesn't look like it. You have been blocked for a week. If you violate your topic ban again, you will get a longer block. If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}. April 2022[edit]

Stop icon
You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for violating your topic-ban as soon as your previous 1 week block for similar violation expired. It has become clear that yu are not interested in editing any areas of wikipedia outside the ones related to castes, so this time the block is for indefinite duration..
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Abecedare (talk) 04:14, 7 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
