Speedy deletion of James Sulivane[edit]

A tag has been placed on James Sulivane requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Whip it! Now whip it good! 22:36, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I made the notability of James Sulivane more clear to the reader. He created/named/founded the town of East New Market, Maryland, was one of the first to bring horse racing and a track to the Eastern Shore, and was a Captain for the Continental Army. Speedy deletion of James Sulivane[edit]

A tag has been placed on James Sulivane requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

I rewrote, shortened, and paraphrased the article I published on www.eastnewmarket.org so that is would not look like I was violating the copyright that I own. Issue resolved. Collinsfactor (talk) 22:59, 28 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Requesting copyright permission[edit]

You must request permission to release copyrighted material, even your own. This is because all content on Wikipedia is licensed under the GFDL, which is a copyleft. You can follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission to release your copyrighted material for use for Wikipedia. (Remember that if you do, under the terms of the GFDL, it may be edited by other users.) Hope this helps, MuZemike 22:51, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I rewrote, shortened, and paraphrased my article so that is would not match the full article I posted on www.eastnewmarket.org. Collinsfactor (talk) 22:57, 28 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy or request a change of username.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text

{{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}

at the bottom of your talk page. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names.

 Thank you. Alexf(talk) 12:57, 23 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
