Welcome![edit]

Hi, Damson88, Welcome to Wikipedia!

I hope you like this place — I sure do — and want to stay. Before getting too in-depth, please read about the simplified ruleset. If you need help on how to title new articles check out the naming conventions, and for help on formatting the pages visit the manual of style. If you need help look at Wikipedia:Help and the FAQ , plus if you can't find your answer there, check the Village Pump (for Wikipedia related questions) or the Reference Desk (for general questions)! There's still more help at the Tutorial and Policy Library. Plus, don't forget to visit the Community Portal. And if you have any more questions after that, feel free to post them on my user talk page.

Additional tips[edit]

Here's some extra tips to help you get around in the 'pedia!

  • If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills the Sandbox is for you.
  • You can sign your name using three tildes (~). If you use four, you can add a datestamp too.
  • If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the articles for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.
  • If you believe something you added or created has been unfairly treated, talk to the user or follow the steps in resolving disputes
  • If you're still entirely confused, or would like to get a better grasp of your wikipedia skills, and you have an IRC client (or don't mind getting one), check out the Bootcamp. It's not what it sounds like, but it is fun and can help you with your editing skills.
  • If you're bored and want to find something to do, try the Random page button in the sidebar, or check out the Open Task message in the Community Portal.

Happy Wiki-ing.[edit]

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that Fleming is not actually a CBBC presenter, doesn't he only present Newsround, Sportsround or Newsround Showbiz? Please reply at my talk page and take part in the poll. APclark Be nice not nasty 18:01, 10 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hiya, just thought I'd say (after I removed the information you originally added to the article yesterday) that I thought the replacement text was much better/more appropriate. :-) Nige 19:42, 24 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Animal homosexuality nonsense[edit]

I just learned, too late, about the category deletion. It must be reinstated, it is of obvious importance. Any thoughts? Haiduc 00:19, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry I don't know the rules for reinstatement. Damson88 20:57, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Cbbc crush logo.gif)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Cbbc crush logo.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Thank you for experimenting with the page Chris Morgan (powerlifter) on Wikipedia. Your test worked, and it has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you may want to do. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Dfrg.msc 23:15, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Oucho.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Oucho.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. TheIslander 23:31, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Oucho.png[edit]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Oucho.png. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. TalkIslander 15:54, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Oucho.png)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Oucho.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Re: Oucho.png[edit]

I took another look at it. While the image would be appropriate on an article about Ed Petrie as a character or used in the context of his involvement on the show, it was being used solely to depict him, thus failing the first point in WP:NFCC. You're right however that the talkpage should remain, so I've restored it. east.718 at 21:31, April 6, 2008

Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Hello Damson88! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 943 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Alison Sharman - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
