How you can help

Thanks for your note and glad you liked the entry. This unofficial website van the man info is invaluable if looking for information on Morrison. It was offline for a while so I took all the dead links out and now have started to restore. It isn't always easy to link directly to the glossary entry, etc. as it will redirect to the home page if the link is not exactly as it should be. Would also like to say that you made a valuable contribution to the article with your wording revisions. There's lots of other Van related articles that probably need some writing style help. (hint, hint) Thanks, Agadant (talk) 15:05, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your kind words! I would be pleased to edit some other Van-related articles (after I finish the two wiki items I am working on right now ...). If I could trouble you to identify the Morrison materials, I would be pleased to take a look at them.

Thanks again! Designquest10 (talk) 04:11, 4 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just saw your reply on here. About the articles: the largest I guess are: Them, Gloria, Astral Weeks, Brown Eyed Girl-but maybe some of the smaller album and song articles need more help with wording, maybe Veedon Fleece. If you want just check them out whenever you have free time and see what you find. It's hard for me to say, you know how it is when you can't see the forest for the trees! Thanks and any help you want to offer and whenever will be appreciated. Agadant (talk) 23:41, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Regarding the links on articles not created, I think it would depend on if you think you might be able to create the new article yourself, because there are just too many and I hate the way they disrupt the looks of the article. I just took out two on the VM main article that I can't find enough info on to create one. Some folks put them in never intending to create it themselves tho, so guess it's a matter of preference. Glad you're enjoying Wiki, I do too, except for when I have to go out and scare off the wild dogs. (Joke) Agadant (talk) 18:15, 6 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Contributions[edit]

Thanks for your comment and glad you're still helping to spruce up the VM articles. There is certainly always something to do in Wiki almost everywhere you look. Right? And you're really good with language. Happy editing! Agadant (talk) 02:59, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Main Van Morrison article[edit]

Are you available soon to revise a section of the article? We're trying to get it upgraded to GA article. Check out the discussion here at the VM talk page. Agadant (talk) 17:04, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I will have some time now, but a little limited in scope... but the good news is, I will have way more free time the week of Sunday, July 6 - Saturday July 12. However, I will start work on the revision to the VM page this evening July 1. Thanks, Designquest10 (talk) 22:45, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your help. The part that needs to be written in prose starts here at the end of the 90s in case that wasn't clear:

Taking this concept of association a stage further, the 1990s saw an upsurge in Morrison's collaborations with other artists, a trend continuing into the new millennium. These include:

If anyone can make the transition to prose you can but we can all pitch in if you need help. (make it a group project) Thanks, Agadant (talk) 03:49, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Van Morrison-the 80s[edit]

Thanks and Great job on word/writing style changes in the article. I personally thought your addition of the citations on the issue of creativity versus commerciality in rock music was very interesting material but as the article is going to be put up for GA assessment, I at least temporarily removed that part. I'm not sure that it wouldn't be considered original research and it's really important to keep the article free of controversy or material that can be objected to by the assessment team. (Falling back once again on the old maxim of "Err on the side of caution.") The material and work you put into it isn't lost-just removed for now until further discussion. Sorry, know you would feel disappointed. Agadant (talk) 11:14, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not a problem at all, Agadant, as I completely understand your logic and the context of the GA status. I hope I will have time within the next two days to work on the 1990s section. If not, as I said earlier, I will have time starting Sunday and well into next week. Keep up all your great work and attentive analysis, as it will only make the article stronger. Working towards GA article[edit]

Would you like to help towards this? As you have probably seen, the article did not succeed when nominated. I was certain it wouldn't pass right away but hoped it would be put on hold with exact requirements to be addressed for it to pass. But I personally think that all it needs is some more work - a few more references, a little more copyediting, getting the references per WP:CITE/ES all consistent with {{cite web}}. - shouldn't be many to do, I've formatted most in this manner. Anyway, with summertime here, I find I have less time for Wiki and will be competely unavailable for some of the time. So working slowly towards a September time frame seems the best path to take to me. You can e-mail me (since you're new to Wiki, I'll point out the [E-mail the user] in the left hand under [toolbox] when you pull up someone's talk page.) You can create an e-mail account just for Wiki if you like under Yahoo. - keeps it more organized. You have already helped much towards this informally, so don't feel obligated to make a commitment. Thanks, Agadant (talk) 21:59, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Club Niight/Night Club[edit]

You asked about this in the Amy Winehouse article. A club night and/or DJ night is an event that occurs in a night club. It has become the trendy thing for musicians to do in the last few years. They have a night where they play DJ. It is a marketing opportunity it can give them a little street credibility. It gives them an opportunity to expose musicians that they themselves are into. As for the article the BBC used the terminology so that is what should be used in the article. Edkollin (talk) 04:34, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[Thanks, Edkollin, for your detailed clarification (following) regarding a Club Night. It makes perfect sense.]

You are welcome Edkollin (talk) 06:29, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the help[edit]

Hi, Designquest10, I appreciate your help today on the VM article. I had no idea there would be so much work to do still. Hope your holiday will be a great one! Agadant (talk) 00:47, 24 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your additions to this article -- just a brief note of concern: don't get too carried away adding information about retail stores to the list, which is supposed to be about notable and historic things. Already it's pushing the limits ("Dee Lite lived here" and so on), and it would be good to keep it somewhat reigned in. Any stores commented on should be long-term fixtures, on the order of Trash & Vaudeville, Sounds, St. Marks Books (now moved), Gem Spa or historically notable for some reason. Otherwise we'll just get bogged down in the ebb & flow of retailers on the street, and the info on historical buildings will get lost in the shuffle. Thanks. Thanks![edit]

Just dropping by to say Hi and thanks for the correction. I was thinking about you last week or so and wondering how you were and if you still edited. Good to see that you do. Hope everything is fine for you. All the best always, Agadant (talk) 19:50, 30 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
