Actresses[edit]

It's a simple fact, that can be plainly observed by finding any article about an actress whose page title has a disambiguator in it. And if you still don't believe me, feel free to take a gander at the list of disambiguated actresses I've compiled for you at User:Bearcat/Altomedia. Bearcat (talk) 06:00, 2 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

 • Have you ever read my essay User:Geo Swan/Nothing is obvious. I asked if you could point to a wikidocument. Instead, it seems to me, you have claimed your opinion is, well, obviously correct.
 • In my experience here I come across my respondents claiming, all the time, that their personal opinion is "obviously" true - so obviously true there is no reason for them to make the effort to actually explain themselves.
 • A decade ago there was this very aggressive guy who was convinced everyone with an Arabic name should be sorted as if they had they had an inherited European style surname. If you don't know, if Arabic countries, people do take their father's name, as part of their name, but not in the European style. Their last name is their father's first name, like Eric the Red's son's name was Lief Ericson. This very aggressive guy took the minority position that since "al" was an article, roughly equivalent to English "the". He spent months changing the in every article about someone with an Arabic style name from or to . He was dogmatic about it. Wouldn't budge. Wouldn't even consider counter-arguments.
 • Don't be like that guy. If you can't point to a wikidocument, please consider acknowledging you can't point to a wikidocument.
 • That you can list 500 instances of female actors with the disambiguator (actress) as part of the title of their article may only mean someone aggressively moved hundreds of articles, without considering whether what seemed too obvious to question actually merited discussion. Geo Swan (talk) 06:28, 2 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
 • Lots of highly respected female actors refer to themselves as actors, not actresses. I see no reason to show them disrespect by referring to them using archaic terms they eschew. Geo Swan (talk) 15:04, 3 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Canol-trail-moose-antlers-in-wires.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Canol-trail-moose-antlers-in-wires.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

 1. Go to the file description page and add the text below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
 2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Samuell Lift me up or put me down 18:14, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Page: Stanley_Walter_Croucher_Pack[edit]

Hello, You seem to be the main main contributor to the page on SWC Pack. I'm currently reading Pack's book on Anson's Voyage round the world. The "author's bio" on my book contains material which you might by able to integrate into the article. I've put the text on the article talk page along with a scan of the book cover. I'm really not sure how to combine this material with what is already there. There is also a photo of Pack which is interesting but likely presents a copyright problem. OldBoar (talk) 09:59, 12 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

My impression is that Stanley_Walter_Croucher_Pack was pompous and narrow minded. But he still merits improved coverage. I'll take a look. I am going to have to look at your contribution history to figure out where that material is. Do you know how to use diffs? Geo Swan (talk) 18:00, 12 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Some user drafts moved to draftspace[edit]

FYI, another user moved some of your userspace drafts into draftspace (where they may be eligible for G13 deletion if not actively worked on).[2] Just letting you know in case you care and/or want to move them back into userspace. Thanks, Calliopejen1 (talk) 21:15, 17 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

 • That is highly annoying. Thanks for the heads-up. You don't happen to know what in the name of heck they thought they were doing? Geo Swan (talk) 03:02, 18 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Geo Swan,

Thanks for your edits on the article Brides of ISIL. Just a friendly reminder, when entering a new row, please make sure to do the following:

1. Use the same formatting as previous rows for the "Home country" column.

i.e

BEL instead of Belgium: (renders as  Belgium)
CAN instead of Canada: (renders as  Canada)
FRA instead of France: (renders as  France)

etc

2. Update the table in the "Statistics" section appropriately.

Thanks!
