Oops

Did not know that pushing the green button would force me to edit the page... either way..I reverted. :P Tiptoety talk 22:01, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Heh - yeah, I set it up to automatically update. It works for you because you've also got Henrik's AfC script. For most users, it'll just go to the edit screen and make them do it manually, or tell them it's fully protected. ;-) No trouble, though. Hersfold non-admin(t/a/c) 00:16, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Status Box

I saw that Status Bot was blocked so I had to use another method. I saw you had a Status Box that was working. (I also like the style of having links underneath it for quick, editting access.) Since the page is blocked, I don't know the code for it. Could you please tell me the code so I can have a working Status Box again? Thanks you! Chimchar monferno (talk) 02:55, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Odd, wonder why it got shut down. Anyway, my Status template is at User:Hersfold/StatusTemplate. That page has directions on how to install it on your userpage. Please note that in order for the update links to work correctly, you will need to install a script to your monobook.js file. If you have problems, feel free to let me know, but don't expect too fast a response - I'm on vacation. Hersfold non-admin(t/a/c) 00:23, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
I tried. Look at my Userpage if you want to see the odd thing that happended. I did what the information page said. Everything should be okay. Could you tell me what's wrong? I would REALLY like it to work. Chimchar monferno (talk) 00:55, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
(Hersfold smacks himself in the head) The problem with the links was your username - because it's two words, it breaks the URL into two pieces - http:// all the way to Chimchar, then monferno all the way to the end. In order for it to work, you have to replace the space with an underscore: _. I've already done this for you, and set your status to Offline. So, provided you installed that script, everything should work. Sorry for that, I didn't even think of that when I wrote the template, but it's definitely in the documentation now :-). Hey

Im about to post an article ( actually, an article linking to many articles ) concerning the Wenchuan Earthquake in China. It can be considered as a current event, since it happened months ago, but i feel i must post it on the Wiki because of the fact that its death toll has now reached 55,740 and it may be a historical point in China, since it devastated it. Would you agree with my posting of the article? I wanted to ask first, so i dont get in trubble. (:)). Also, within the article, names such as Hu Jintao and Wu Xiaoquing shall be mentioned and put in [[]] form, because Hu Jintao is thew president at the time, as well as Wu Xiaoquing being the vice president. Yours truly,

(no lie)|Iamagenius!So bow(t)(c)

It's a good thing you asked, because we already have an article at 2008 Sichuan earthquake. It was linked to off the Main Page for several weeks. In the future, do try searching for articles before looking to create them. Usually topics like this are covered almost instantly. Just so you know, I am on vacation right now, and probably aren't the best person to ask questions of at the moment for that reason.
I appreciate that you are looking to contribute, however several of your recent edits seem to be unhelpful. You've been warned about this before. This is a serious encyclopedia, and goofing off won't be tolerated. These edits aren't acceptable, and despite being told multiple times to stop messing with your signature, you kept up with it again. You may not be aware of it, but if you do not heed the several warnings and blocks you have received, you may be placed under an editing restriction known as a topic ban, which prohibits you from editing outside of a specified area - in your case, a topic ban would likely restrict you to edit only articles, their talk pages, and your own user talk page. If this does not appear to work, then you may be blocked from all editing indefinitely. Please, to save us all a lot of time and headache, consider helping us out instead of playing around. If you're not sure what needs to be done, try taking a look at some of the links in my welcome template to get you started. You may also want to consider getting adopted by an experienced user who can help you out. You don't have to do this, but please be aware that any further unconstructive editing may result in you being recommended for a topic ban as described above. I hate to go "evil admin" on you, but you don't seem to be getting the message despite several strong attempts to get it through. Hersfold non-admin(t/a/c) 00:46, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Concerning the Adoption thing,

I actually do have alot of problems with me needing help on wikipedia. It would be appreciated if someone could adopt me, and i was wondering if you could. If you cant, its okay. But since you have been such a help to me, i would appreciate that. thanks, ((U|nknown)? (User)

      • oh, and also*** About the Hu Jintao article, i saw off of CNN and Ask.co itself the name of the vice president, |WuXiaoquing]]| . Correct me if i am wrong, thats just what my research brought me to.
As clearly stated at the top of my talk page, I'm on vacation, so am not available for an adoption program. You may want to see the instructions at WP:ADOPT. Hersfold (t/a/c) 23:09, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Blocking

You're being discussed on AN/I. --Blechnic (talk) 08:43, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

I know it is a bit old (and you are on vacation), but the user in question is still rather angry about it. Would you be able to comment here at some point, or on talk pages after you get back from vacation? Carcharoth (talk) 08:53, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

Oops. Missed the above section where you had already been notified. Sorry. Carcharoth (talk) 09:24, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
I've posted a response (or will as soon as I get past all the EC's). Thanks to you both for the heads-up, and sorry for the delay. Hersfold non-admin(t/a/c) 21:10, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

Missing Wikipedian

Have you seen Audacitor lately? I haven't seen him since his last edit in September. Perhaps he could be listed at Wikipedia:Missing Wikipedians if you haven't. bahamut0013 00:31, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

No, he had to leave the project for personal reasons. You're welcome to add him there if you like, I personally don't see much need for it. Hersfold non-admin(t/a/c) 20:31, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

Using your adoption stuff

Hi Hersfold, I know your on vacation, but I wanted to know if I could use some of your adoption material for me and my adoptee. Thanks LegoKontribsTalkM 21:07, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Of course, that's perfectly fine. It's already being used by a few other editors. If you see anything that needs changing or updating, go ahead and fix it, just let me know. As a warning, most of them are written from my point of view, so some copyediting may be needed to match you and your program. Hersfold non-admin(t/a/c) 20:13, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

Hersfold, On the above article, in any screen resolution less than yours, the images seem to collide with the table. Do you have any idea how to fix this? This seems to be the only awaiting concern on the FLC. Thanks for the help, « Milk's Favorite Cøøkie 20:02, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

I'll look into it - however, my connection here isn't very good and if it ends up failing entirely, I'm not sure when I'll be able to connect next. Hersfold non-admin(t/a/c) 21:43, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
It's done, and appears to work across all browsers. If it goes wrong again, feel free to let me know, but I am on vacation, so you're probably better off contacting someone with a more reliable schedule. Best of luck with the FLC, looks like it's going well. Hersfold non-admin(t/a/c) 23:54, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
Yes, it works (I tested it on several other resolutions) Thanks, I really appreciate the help. « Milk's Favorite Cøøkie 00:12, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
