Argentine football[edit]

Hi,I have noticed that you have made a number of edits to Argentine football related articles, perhaps you would be interested in joining WikiProject Argentine football (WP:ArF). I have reverted a few of your edits and added the other uses template instead, I think it looks neater. Regards English peasant 14:16, 1 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Chacarita Juniors[edit]

Hi, I would suggest asking the question again here, it may be more likely to be seen by other members of the project. I would say that the club should be described as being located in the place where their stadium is, perhaps with a sentence in the article to explain the anomaly over the registered address with AFA. You seem to know more about it than me, so do what you think best. As for the Godoy Cruz thing be bold and change it. Kind regards English peasant 01:55, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Useful links[edit]

Hi, an IP editor keeps adding Dwight Pezzarossi to the list of Argentinos Juniors notable players. I don't think he has any place there since he only played 7 games for the club, what do you think? Should we remove it again? English peasant 10:26, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Images[edit]

Uploading images is a bit tricky to begin with. You would normally use the Upload file link in the toolbox to upload a new image, make sure you use a fair use rationale if you do or it will quickly get deleted. To replace an existing image, click on the image, look for the Upload a new version of this image link and then follow the instructions. Make sure that you change the source in the fair use rationale though. See WP:NFURG for more info on Fair-use English peasant 11:03, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Flagicons[edit]

Hi, I noticed that you added flagicons to Armando Dely Valdes, the policy is to avoid doing this for 2 reasons, first it goes against WP:FLAGS and 2nd and more importantly it distorts the infobox in some browsers like Internet Explorer,so the clubs stop lining up with the years & goals see this picture for an example of the problem Image:Flag Infobox.jpg. Keep up the good work, and don't get disheartened by all of this policy stuff, you'll get the hang of it you clearly have the potential to be a great editor. All the best, English peasant 11:09, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Snowing in Montevideo[edit]

Yes, that would be fine. I just don't believe that completely rejecting the player's memory of the event completely would be appropriate. – PeeJay 13:01, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata[edit]

Hi. Now there's an image of the original shield in the article. I let you know that because I saw you comment in the discussion page. Bye. --Tincho gelp (talk) 18:46, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

asd[edit]

Sorry, I'm not mad at all, its just every other football box thing shows their name as, say, van Nistelrooy or van Persie, but i can leave it as Van der Vaart if you want. Its not a big deal, i don't really care so yeah.

Vandalism on U-20 WC[edit]

Hi, sure, just tell me what pages you want me to watch. Cheers. El0i (talk) 14:19, 1 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, OK I've added a number of tournament pages he's vandalised to my watchlist and will be on the lookout for more, he sure seems dedicated to what he's doing. Cheers. El0i (talk) 15:38, 5 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. El0i (talk) 17:06, 5 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I think we should wait a little longer. I asked for protection twice and got one article temporarily protected but another got denied for lack of vandalism, so I'm waiting to see whether he keeps this up and amasses more vandalism before requesting protection again. El0i (talk) 08:02, 3 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, it's been going on for too long (over 5 months?), it's starting to take the piss out of wikipedia, something does need to be done. El0i (talk) 10:20, 4 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

GER/FRG[edit]

I am well aware of the difference between pre-unification Germany and the modern day country. Technically, "West Germany" is the same country as we have today (i.e. the Federal Republic of Germany/FRG), except the modern country has re-absorbed the former "East Germany" (aka the German Democratic Republic/GDR). Furthermore, we do not refer to the nation by the code "GER" or "FRG" in that article, so the note is unnecessary. – PeeJay 21:40, 14 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The article may not use the codes, but the FIFA report does, and that's the point of the note you're removing: to warn the occasional reader that the official report is misleading here. That misleading must be fixed by Wikipedians because the official report is linked there precisely to support the article's accuracy. We Wikpedians can't overlook that mistake, because if we do, our article stating "West Germany" instead of (supposedly) "Germany" may be thought to be wrong and unsourced. The note fixes this mistake in the report and explains why it's a mistake, strengthening the article's accuracy. It's not original research but a necessary warning. In the end, the point here is not if YOU are aware of the difference between Germany and West Germany, but if the READER is. If he may not be, we should assure that nevertheless he won't doubt of the article's accuracy regardless the source's info. If this doesn't convince you, I think we may call for third opinions at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Football. Regards. Ipsumesse (talk) 22:12, 14 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
