Ecatering IRCTC

@Jim1138: hey its hrithik, first of all sorry to bother you about, i have been receiving the alert of getting blocked from the editing the articles from you guys, but i don't think that any of you have checked that i hadn't included any irrelevant content or link in whichever article i had made modification. Those Articles belongs to the IRCTC (Indian Railways) and i had just modified the content by including the recent service of ecatering provided by the IRCTC only. and adding the link in the external link section to provide ease to the passengers who search for the trains. Do look into the matter and resolve this issue. Thank you Hrithikchaubey (talk) 06:58, 22 June 2018 (UTC)Hrithik

@Hrithikchaubey: That content does not support the article's encyclopedic intent. Wikipedia is not a collection of links associated with the main topic. See WP:ELNO and WP:NOT - falls under multiple categories. Don't add it, please. Thank you Jim1138 (talk) 07:25, 22 June 2018 (UTC)

If I can jump in here; first of all, that isn't a personal attack per Wikipedia's policy. Jim is pointing out a guideline. Second of all, you know you can also get blocked for abusing multiple accounts right, Lisarobrien? HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 05:53, 26 June 2018 (UTC)

Now if I may jump back into a conversation that you were not first part of, 1. Are you accusing me of being another person with two accounts? 2. You know YOU can get blocked for said false accusations right, Hickory ham? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Peanutbrittle26 (talkcontribs) 05:59, 26 June 2018 (UTC)

Hasty reversion of "Causes of schizophrenia"?

Hello, and thank-you for your watchful attention: I certainly didn't mean to remove any content. That being the case, I suspect that your reversion of the article may have been a bit too hasty. Perhaps you saw that I removed "dead tags" in citations, like "|url= |next-tag=..." where the tag contains nothing at all. I did indeed remove several of those. I also recall a reduplicated title (double insert of a part of the title), but otherwise no deletions. I also deleted many, many bot-created "|lastNN=" author names, since the original "|author=" or "|author2=" tags were overwhelmingly actually Vancouver-style lists. Once the author-list is tagged as "|vauthors=" the Wikipedia software automatically collects the authors' last names from the list, since the tediously strict limits on formatting of "vauthors" lists (which is enforced by redlining in the [Show preview] display) allows parsing of authors' names (everything following a comma, with the last two or last one upper-case letters and a preceding space, which are the authors' initials, chopped off). So when a name-list is re-labeled as "|vauthor=" the bot-inserted last-name entries at the end of the citation aren't helpful, and are not allowed with "|vauthors=" in the same article. Those names that I seem to have deleted are in fact, still present, perfectly intact. (Although in one or two lists, I did convert 2 or 3 first names to initials only, as demanded by the Wikipedia, which actually uses stricter rules than the actual Vancouver-format article specifies.)

You might have noticed names of authors in very long citations vanishing, but never fear, the content is still there. I deleted nothing; I just converted the number of named displayed to 6 (in most cases). I took great pains to leave in all of the ignored names in the citations author lists which now show as "et al.". (In fact, I expanded several from "|display-authors=3" to "|display-authors=6", since the APA standard is 6 authors followed by et-al.)

If you think all 52 authors should be included, please feel free to change "|display-authors=6" to "|display-authors=" (which I think will work, or "|display-authors=99" will certainly do for this article, since the longest citation list is 52. But please DO NOT undo my very laborious citation fixes again.

Please feel free to restore any content text that I may have inadvertently removed, however, I think that there is none. That being the case, I'm undoing your revision, in as much as I spent the better part of a day cleaning up the extremely messy citations.

Warning: The IP address I'm using (now) is a shared address. When my phone modem disconnects (automatically, every 3-5 days, as far as I can tell) it will change. 208.54.5.213 (talk) 07:16, 26 June 2018 (UTC)

Yep: Not as bad as it might look at a casual glance

I re-checked after restoring my edits. I believe what you saw is a fumble by the [Compare selected] software on the "History" tab. It fails to align propperly, probably due to my having both changed the text (in the citations) and inserted paragraph breaks.

Try re-checking the introduction section again, but take my claim that it's all there as motivation to align the text on your own, by sliding up and down the introduction part until you make your own text-match. The non-citation text is all still there, and all in the same order. (And the citations are actually longer, since I re-formatted a lot of them as template-based citations.)

As far as I can tell, the alignment algorithm pulls its socks back on after the "{ { TOC ...} }" thingie. So you only have to look closely for the very top section. The citation edits that follow in the sections & subsections below the TOC seem well-aligned.

Golden Sheen Sapphire page edits

I am the original editor of the Golden Sheen Sapphire page. As you have noted, there have been many edits and undo edits to this page. I suspect a single individual is responsible using different IP address, and that they are making the changes with malicious intent. My original page contained basic facts I could find references for citing publications from reputable sources.

The changes from different IP addresses have no other edits than the Golden Sheen Sapphire page, and do not seem to be "well seasoned" wikipedia editors.

The changes the IP editor is making state that Gold Sheen Sapphire is the same as Star Sapphire - this is incorrect. They are two different types of sapphire. Gold Sheen Sapphire has been given its own designation as a type of corundum by independent gemological labs, which I have cited. Other information they change is the source mine and alternate names, and discovery date, however there are not cited sources to support this assertion. Gold Sheen Sapphire was unknown and unnamed until the GIA lab in Bangkok determined the material was different to other corundum varieties in 2013 - as cited in my original page.

The IP editor is causing damage to the reputation of Gold Sheen Sapphire, and material damage to those involved in the sapphire industry. As the page stands now, with your revision to the anonymous IP edit changes, the page is factually incorrect.

As per the Wikipedia policy, I have tried to contact the IP editor via their talk page to ask them to stop and discuss the issues. However, as they keep changing IP address, the contact attempts remained unanswered.

I appreciate you fixing my initial ham fisted page links, it is taking me some time to become familiar with the wikipedia editor and conventions. I hope that this will allow sensible discussion and resolution.

72.53.0.45 (talk) 08:23, 29 June 2018 (UTC)Hello,

You just removed my edit to the Mike Cernovich page, claiming I did not cite any sources, when I in fact cited THREE SOURCES, which you also deleted. You also claimed that he says he identifies as alt-right, which he has for the past two years said specifically that he DOES NOT in countless Periscope and YouTube videos produced by him. Here are my sources once again that Mike Cernovich is NOT Alt-right[1]

Hi Jim,

I see a number of articles here linking the Tynan/Ceann Ard branch of O'Neills to Shane the Proud. The Shane or Sean in this line died in 1517, and was actually a brother of Conn Bacach O'Neill. Here's the line:

1. Conn Mor O'Neill, d. 1493 2. Sean (Shane) O'Neill, d. 1517 (resided at Ceann Ard Castle) 3. Henry O'Neill

4. Henry Og O'Neill, of Portnelligan Co. Armagh; married Cortrine Ni Neill, daughter of Hugh O'Neill, Earl of Tyrone; Pardoned for Nine Years War on 6 Dec. 1602 & confirmed in his lands of Tiranny and Muintir Bhirn

5. Turlough Og O'Neill, d. 1608 6. Phelim Rua O'Neill, d. 1653

Thank you,

Hungary 2011 census

Hello,

the data of the official 2011 hungarian demographic census was released years ago, that's why I updated the page. Here is a link to the official 2011 hungarian demographic census: http://www.ksh.hu/docs/hun/xftp/idoszaki/nepsz2011/nepsz_03_00_2011.pdf. The results are 85.6% hungarians, 3.2% Roma, 1.9% germans, 0.4% romanians, 0.4% slovaks and so on.

Which page? I can't read Hungarian, don't see a "3.18%" or "3.18" (which you added), and https://translate.google.com won't do the whole PDF.
You can cite it, see help:footnotes or use wp:RefToolbar/2.0 which is at the top of the Wiki editor box under Cite/Templates. Please use {{cite web}} and specify url, title (English translation would be best), year, work ("Központi Statisztikai Hivatal", I presume), Publication date (2011?), Access date (today), and page. Death of the Bytyqi brothers

Yeah, I do consider that you made a mistake because it is IMPORTANT to EMPHASIZE the identities of the brothers, what they did and who they were, as well as the controversies and the hypocrisy regarding the whole case. Nothing that I have edited was not already mentioned in the same article on different languages including Serbian. Leaving out the important adjective is a clear sign that the names of these people and the organization they killed for is under review to be cleared from any wrongdoings. This implies an agenda, which is far from neutral point of view.

If you keep selectively and subjectively editing this article I will have to take this to an upper instance.

You treat my edits as one of the vandals edits. My edits are not concerned as content that needs sourcing because they are of lectoral type and are considered common knowledge, therefore I see no breach of Wiki publishing policy. And please, go ahead, be an online bully, but know that blocking my editing permission won't get you rid of me and the truth.

I added the below para to the Robo-advisor page to maintain neutrality as the page only talks about B2C Roboadvisors and not B2B. May I kindly know why the sentences talking about People like me and the examples of B2C Roboadvisors are removed?

" Apart from B2C, there exists large B2B players that provide Robo-advisory platforms to Banks, Wealth Managers, Insurance firms and other professional players in the industry. [1]They use sophisticated algorithms for goal based investing and efficient financial planning. Some firms capitalising on Machine Learning technology, provide more innovative building block complimenting the platform. Bambu a leading B2B Roboadvisor's "PeopleLikeMe" [2]solution provides financial guidance based on users' current age and situation is one such effective use of Machine Learning in financial planning.

Hello. I received a message from you. I am new to W and am learning these processes. I can review, but I did not remove data, I added more, and more specific data that is clear and well established historical description, analysis and information. Apparently, there is someone who thinks that he individually and personally owns this page and all the content in it and has enthroned himself as the total arbiter and judge of any editing, inclusion or exclusion. Nothing that I put in is incorrect. He quickly became aggressive and threatening, making demands, and accused me of 'vandalism'. Anything done in good faith is not vandalism. Now he has secured a freezing or I guess restriction of the page which I just am astonished at. He has repeatedly removed any content I've put in. This is not my understanding of how W works. He is trying to control the information and narrative regarding the work this page discusses, 'The GULAG Archipelago'. I can discuss why I think that is occurring or what might be motivating such actions but will postpone at this point since this is the first time I am adding content to a page and am writing some kind of note like this. I have to say this is very upsetting. Not only to be targeted by someone, but also to have content that is clearly relevant and correct to be challenged, and quick, negatively, and aggressively. This is tyrannical on his/her part and he is trying to silence others and more specific content being shared. I am fearful of revealing anything about myself given the very real risk of on line retaliation and harassment, especially by such zealots with a need to control and enforce an agenda. I even hesitate to write this note. Is this a private and confidential note or will this be on a public web page somewhere? Thank you very much. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.71.226.106 (talk) 23:53, 4 July 2018 (UTC)

Hi there! I hope you don't mind if I respond. I ran into your message here while patrolling recent changes, and I'd like to help you. Looking at the history of the The Gulag Archipelago, it looks like your recent edits (starting June 30) removed some content (see here) without explaining why in the edit summary. C.J. Griffin most likely reverted these changes because of this, and didn't understand the reason behind your changes and content removal. If you look at the history of the article on July 3, you and C.J. Griffin were reverting your changes onto the article back and fourth, back and fourth, over and over again.... this is known as edit warring and is not allowed on Wikipedia and will usually result in being blocked from editing because it is disruptive (a rule to gauge whether or not you're crossing into edit warring is the "three-revert rule"). In fact, both you and C.J. Griffin were violating this policy... it wasn't just you, but the both of you. Instead of doing this back and fourth edit warring on the page, you're both expected to resolve the dispute properly and discuss the issues and concerns on the article's talk page. I'm not going to block you for this (obviously), since time has passed since the violation of policy occurred and I believe that you are unaware that this policy exists. Just don't edit war like that on articles, as it solves nothing and only makes working things out between one another much harder. The reason that the administrator Peacemaker67 protected the article was to stop the edit warring and disruption that was going on. He did you and C.J. Griffin both a big favor by doing this instead of blocking you two for violating the edit warring policy. Nobody is trying to come after you or harass and look down upon you at all and it's perfectly normal to run make mistakes and break rules - it's how we learn and become more experienced here; you just need to become familiar with Wikipedia's policies and how to collaborate with others and work together when conflicts like this happen. Have you tried leaving a message on C.J. Griffin's user talk page and trying to work with him to resolve the issue? While the page is protected, this is a good opportunity to do this. If you have any questions, Jim1138 is a great editor and will surely be happy to help you here. I am also available and more than happy to help you as well. If you haven't done this already, you should go through and complete Wikipedia's new user tutorial. It provides users with many guides, walkthroughs, and shows you how to navigate through the site, locate Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, how to talk and communicate with others, and ask for help when you need it. I highly suggest that you give it a go, as it will benefit you significantly and help you a lot. Please do not hesitate to message me if you'd like more help from myself, or you're welcome to remain here and have Jim1138 help you as well. I hope my reply helped explain some things and pointed you in the right direction, I wish you a great day and happy editing :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 00:11, 5 July 2018 (UTC)

Hello. Thank you for the information. I'll review the general material on W operations. Unfortunately, I find this very disheartening. And actually will probably pull out completely from engaging with W. You've heard of 'Holocaust denial' I assume. The same dynamic occurs regarding the Soviet GULAG. You are asking me to engage with an individual who came after me regarding completely legitimate content and actions on the page regarding AS's work. Content he didn't like. These individuals undermine the GULAG history, dilute it, raise subtle or even blatant questions about it, to undermine Solzhenitsyn, the GULAG history, Soviet history, and the historical works themselves. Many people look at W for first take on material, often young people, unfortunately. They will get a biased, filtered, compromised, and undermining impression. The worst is to perpetuate the notion that the work is 'folklore' and thus not true. This is the minimization, equivocation, diluting, dismissal and denial that evidences itself in discussions of the GULAG which would never be tolerated in discussing the Holocaust. Now you are telling me that I have to engage and convince and get approval from some unknown person regarding what is simply fact, but that he doesn't seem to care for or doesn't further his agenda. Thus, he gets to control the narrative, which is both an incomplete and false narrative, and which he/she apparently has been doing and attempting to do so now. Simply because he complained. It really is unbelievable. And you are going to let him/her prevail. That's a tragedy and a disgrace and dishonors every man, woman, and child who through state organized/ institutionalized and political terror and mass repression were falsely accused, exiled, imprisoned, tortured, enslaved, and died or were murdered in the camps of the GULAG. Really, I'm very upset about this. This is unbelievable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.71.226.106 (talk) 00:57, 5 July 2018 (UTC)
I just want the article encyclopedic and accurate. When someone removes sourced content on a potentially contentious article as you did, I suspect it is being cleaned of "undesirable" content. I simply undid your edit as you did not explain the content removal. I suspect C.J. Griffin does not have any agenda on the content. I definitely don't have an agenda on the article content. Please start a discussion on talk:The Gulag Archipelago. See help:talk pages and wp:talk page guidelines. State what you want changed and wp:cite wp:reliable sources supporting your changes. Please sign your edits with four tildes "~~~~" Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 01:09, 5 July 2018 (UTC)
I reverted the disruptive edits from what appears to be a WP:SPA because it seemed to constitute vandalism as there was no edit summary for any of the reverts, and sourced materials were being selectively removed with no explanation. If you browse my edits you will see I do this routinely as a rollbacker. It goes without saying that anonymous IPs and SPAs engage in vandalism and disruptive editing on a regular basis, and this appeared to be more of the same. As such, I do not see my own reverts as a violation of 3rr and explained this in my edit summaries with a link to the appropriate page on exemptions to this policy.--C.J. Hi Jim,

Changes to Arnold Thackray

Jim: I have been asked to review the Wikipedia entry for Arnold Thackray for errors and omissions. I just stepped down after 9 years as President and CEO of the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, CA. I was a reviewer of the manuscript of Arnold's biography of Gordon Moore and have fairly extensive knowledge of his career, education, etc. This would be my first Wikipedia editing attempt. Since you are listed as the last editor and are a content monitor, I just wanted to check in with you first and see if you have any advice or guidance. Many of my colleagues are very experienced at this and have given me some pointers. Many thanks. -- John John C Hollar (talk) 18:15, 6 July 2018 (UTC)

Changes to Jesse Lee Peterson

You rolled back my edits to Jesse Lee Peterson. The video showing the alleged statements made by the man, and shown on "The Huffington Post", has been removed from youtube after court action against "Raw Story". Since the statements are unsupported, they should be removed under WP:BLP and WP:V until someone can dig up said video in unedited form. As a POC, I also find the tone of this whole article problematic, so let's at least keep it factual. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2607:FEA8:D1E0:84:17F:7313:E06E:D073 (talk) 18:49, 6 July 2018 (UTC)

You added a reference to "Alternet", which uses the same edited "Raw Story" video as a source. Again, the video in question is not in evidence. I guess it's your job to police the black man's thoughts. You and white people like you need to leave black folk in peace. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2607:FEA8:D1E0:84:17F:7313:E06E:D073 (talk) 20:08, 7 July 2018 (UTC)

Playing the "race card", huh? Peterson does seem quite the misogynist, doesn't he? The statements are still accessible on lots of websites. The other reporters saw the video and reported on it and they are RS. RawStory took it down because it was a copyright violation, not because Peterson didn't say it. Still there, still sourced. Content stays up. Even if they were gone, wp:KDL applies. Jim1138 (talk) 02:46, 8 July 2018 (UTC)

Do you even read the articles you cite? You added another reference that references the same edited video as the only source. The edited video that is no longer in evidence. wp:KDL does not apply on WP:BLP. You are a racist with an agenda. — Preceding unsigned comment added by LnZ3VpVeWh$Fs (talkcontribs) 23:05, 10 July 2018 (UTC)

Such language. The ref I added is not for the video, it is for the reporters who saw and reported on the video. When someone sees an event and there is no video record of it, does that make it inadmissible? Nope. Where is the policy on KDL not being valid for BLPs? Jim1138 (talk) 07:42, 11 July 2018 (UTC)

Hi Jim,

Thanks for messaging me re: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abdulrahim_Abby_Farah

The fact: "Farah was married, and he and his wife had five children.[4]" cited is misleading in that it was not accurate and also represents his life in the 1970s.

Mr Farah died recently and consequently, more comprehensive biographical information has been published:

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/jun/14/abdulrahim-abby-farah-obituary http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/nytimes/obituary.aspx?n=abdulrahim-farah&pid=189021514

" He is survived by his fourth wife, Hodan Goth, whom he married in 2001, by six children – Lulah, from his second marriage, Sandra, Hassan, Laila, Marian and Nadia from his marriage to Sheila – and by his sister, Miriam. Another of his children, Safia, died earlier this year."

From which we can infer that he had at least 7 children.

Thanks for your help.

Provide us real and authentic sorce where it is performed??? At the beginning of the 20th century, the Ghirths were the dominant low-caste cultivators and marginal landholders in the Himachal region.[2] Since they were considered as a 'clean' (not untouchable) low caste, they were employed as domestic servants by the higher castes: their 'clean' status allowed them to perform tasks such as fetching water or cleaning cooking utensils, which the untouchable servants were not allowed to do.[3] Nevertheless, the Rajputs, who were the dominant landholding caste of the region, had imposed social restrictons on them. Around 1926, the Ghirths started a movement to achieve upward social mobility, and started opposing these restrictions.[2] They refused menial work, creating difficulties for the higher castes that earlier employed them as servants. Don't create ameteur based thinkings!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2405:205:4205:6587:D435:755:6D83:1385 (talk) 10:37, 13 July 2018 (UTC)

How can I edit Mamamoo wikipedia page

Hi! Recently people have vandalising Mamamoo wikipedia page putting wrong info.

Right now it says its blocked to prevent vandalism but there is a part that has been added that is an indirect attack against them.

How can we remove that? Thanks. Viratvio (talk) 04:07, 4 August 2018 (UTC)

@Viratvio: Use an wp:edit request. The blackface incident is wp:reliably sourced and is unlikely to be removed. Jim1138 (talk) 04:10, 4 August 2018 (UTC)

Ok so i have another question. If I add any other thing on another artist page, it doesn't matter if it ruins them or its for just wanting to make them look bad, as long as its a reliable source it good to edit right? Ok. Viratvio (talk) 04:19, 4 August 2018 (UTC)

@Viratvio: That is an oversimplification. Say, if the New York Times writes an exposé on someone for doing blackface. That is then used as a wp:reliable source on that person's Wikipedia page. They are "ruined". Whose fault is it? Wikipedia, the New York Times, that person, or their agent, crew, manager for letting them do blackface in the first place? Maybe Mamamoo should talk to their attorneys about their agent, manager, or crew for not informing them of the situation? Mamamoo did it, it's all over the news and web, and Wikipedia is not telling anyone anything new. Mamamoo apologized and their claim of ignorance seems perfectly valid. I doubt it would "ruin" them. Well i have a question!

Before attacking them, they insisted that they had the right to choose someone's birthplace over a non existing country and deleting the actual state that exists now, who gives the right to choose on how a country does not exist ? Is wikipedia an actual encyclopedia or just a massive propaganda fueled by slavo-serbo folk rage, and nationalism so they claim rights on everything they can touch? Do i have to give actual birth certificates of people to see that there is written "Kosovo" somewhere and not only YUGOSLAVIA ? Or is that out of question as being oppressed on albanians has been cool before it was cool, and always stealing rights to express the actual facts and reverting them biased ! I attacked because there should on every albanian-kosovar birth places "Kosovo. Then yougoslavia" Doesn't matter if its defacto-dejuro a state or not, its a place that most of the world knows it exists, make it happen or just semi lock the threads for no further edits to be made. I can see the frustration over some simple things but please as another person to another one, make things right if you're so righteous. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Armeendb (talkcontribs) 20:06, 16 July 2018 (UTC)

The citations give a one sided view of the historical events on the poet. Since these are politically sensitive issues, Wikipedia needs to be careful about the sources used/citations used and refences used to write on poets. Let us not forget that while poets essayists and administrators are to be studied, obsessed over in all manners possible. We should not in any manner hurt sentiments of the individuals concerned, especially by posting/manipulating references to twist/distort or contort content to present an individual in bad light.

If references and citations are what is needed, I shall add them. Let me know if that is your primary concern. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 49.207.75.133 (talk) 06:45, 17 July 2018 (UTC)

Hi Jim. African Americans fit the qualifications the UN designated as stateless nation. You do not need a direct source for them to fit it

Hello Jim,

I have noticed that yourself and Doug Weller have deleted African Americans from the qualifications for 'stateless nation'. The following definition of qualifications is listed just before the list:

The following is a list of stateless nations that meet these criteria:

has no sovereign state of its own.[30] - african Americans are neither a majority nor control any American state.

does not form a majority in any sovereign state.[31] - See above

one or more autonomist or secessionist movements are known to exist.[32] - Over history, the BPP, the ACP, the BLP, not to mention many failed slave insurrections

not recognized by any UN members as a state (see also: partially recognized state).[33]- African Americans are not

not a subgroup of a nation (Bengali Hindus, Mexican American).- African Americans are not a 'subgroup' in that there is no singular "Country of Africa" from which we came from. AA culture is derived from millions of people brought from hundreds of cultures all over Africa, then adapted by force to the whim of Anglo American labor needs. We are not a subgroup in that we've been in America as long as Western Europeans have. There is no "African America" in Africa which matches uniform African American cultural elements. These were blended and developed here. African American Vernacular English. The origins of Blues, Jazz, Rock and Roll, Disco, Funk, Rap....all specifically African American culturally *until appropriation*

Doug Weller and yourself continue to erase African Americans as a people from the page as if we are a sub culture to what... white Americans (no scholar would buy that)? Southern whites (even Southern Whites...especially southern whites...would laugh at that assumption).

Even genetically, African Americans have common specific blend of black, white and native that is not commonly found among other groups.

The UN designation and recognition is not required to fit the UN definition. I have to ask why you keep arguing that we as a people do not exist? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:601:9680:D3E:1D95:DF58:2A08:2FC6 (talk) 06:55, 17 July 2018 (UTC)
