Walter Bache

I am really glad that the images cleaned up so nicely. I think some of the Five images could also be cleaned up...

As for the Bache article, when I read it for PR, I assumed it was FAC material, the only real problem I saw was the uncertainty on the RAM appointment and why the concert series stopped when it did, but as long as there really is no material on it, I do not see that as preventing it from becoming a FA. So I think it could be an FA and I know sometimes the material is just not there. I think it is definitely GA already. When I am not sure about an article being FA material, I have sent it to WP:GAN as a way of getting another opinion. I would support if it went to FAC. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 04:19, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

I had to suspend my vacation to share this with you.

I found this article and thought you might find it interesting. I hope all is well with you, Jonyungk.Abie the Fish Peddler (talk) 23:58, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

Bache FAC

I shall be doing a neutral sources review before embarking on a review proper. Brianboulton (talk) 21:12, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

  • I will look at the images Ruhrfisch ><>°° 04:37, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
    • You are very welcome - I was so pleased with the cleanup of the Bache images that I nominated two black and white photo scans with Moire patterns for cleanup at the image lab (one is the Balakirev image from the Tchaikovsky and the Five article). Ruhrfisch ><>°° 16:03, 19 July 2010 (UTC)

If you can spare a moment, some input from you on the Tosca FAC page would be most valuable. The page is not short of comments, but it would benefit from a contribution from someone who has successfully taken a music-related article through the FAC process and understands the need for a balance between over-technicality and over-simplification. We would be most grateful to hear from you. Brianboulton (talk) 18:29, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

(Later): Tosca has been promoted, so no worries. Brianboulton (talk) 12:31, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

Walter Bache featured!

I am delighted to see that Walter Bache has become a featured article - even though no one is yet sure how to say his name. A great "rescue from oblivion" act on your part. Brianboulton (talk) 17:42, 31 July 2010 (UTC)

My congratulations too! (and I thought the pronunciation was on the FAC as "Baytch"). Ruhrfisch ><>°° 02:33, 1 August 2010 (UTC)

Hello, Jonyungk. I wonder if I might ask a favour: if you can find the time, I'd be most grateful if you would let me have comments on the peer review page for M. Messager. — Tim riley (talk) 11:46, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for your charming message. No problem at all. I should warn you that I'm working on Messager's pal Gabriel Fauré at present and may well be bothering you with that, too, in due course. All the best! - Tim riley (talk) 11:58, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
And indeed, M. Fauré is now at peer review (here). Any thoughts from you would be most glady received, but only if and when it is convenient. – Tim riley (talk) 16:34, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

Uncited Passages in Rosetta Stone Article?

Thanks for the support for making the Rosetta Stone article the FA-of-the-Day for Sept 14th, but I saw your comment regarding "uncited passages" that presumably you have a concern about.

If you can point them out to me (it's already been through the FA nom. wringer so am surprised anything got overlooked) I'll see what I can do.

Cheers! Captmondo (talk) 15:01, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

Hello Jonyungk. I see that last year you made a number of substantial edits to the Carl Nielsen article (drawing mainly on Fanning) and that you have contributed to a number of biographies on other composers. In view of Nielsen's importance as Denmark's leading composer, I have started to try to improve the article which currently is poorly referenced, has no "reception" section and is rather poor on a number of CN's more important compositions. It could also do with improvements in presentation, illustrations and language. I was wondering if I could interest you in contributing once again or perhaps just offering advice here or on the article's talk page on the best way forward. - Ipigott (talk) 16:54, 20 October 2010 (UTC)

Hello, Jonyungk. If you are interested and have time, I should greatly welcome your comments at the FAC for Elgar, which I have nominated today. Best wishes. – Tim riley (talk) 10:43, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

What language?

Hi, first of all let me say that I really enjoyed reading "your" article Walter Bache, and I am even considering translating it into Norwegian! However, I do have one question that a quick skim of the article didn't answer: What language did Liszt and Bache speak with each other? Thanks, --Eisfbnore (talk) 12:14, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

Hello, Jonyungk. You were kind enough to give me your comments a little while back on John Barbirolli. If, perchance, you are (i) interested and (ii) at liberty, I should be glad of your comments on one of Sir John's eminent predecessors at peer review. But I shall perfectly understand if you have not the time or inclination. Best wishes - Tim riley (talk) 18:09, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

Alas, I think this editor has either retired or is on an extended break. I haven't seen anything from him for ages. Brianboulton (talk) 01:20, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

Main page appearance

Hello! This is a note to let the main editors of this article know that it will be appearing as the main page featured article on July 12, 2011. You can view the TFA blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/July 12, 2011. If you think it is necessary to change the main date, you can request it with the featured article directors Raul654 (talk · contribs) or his delegate Dabomb87 (talk · contribs), or at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured article/requests. If the previous blurb needs tweaking, you might change it—following the instructions of the suggested formatting. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. :D Thanks! Tbhotch. Grammatically incorrect? Correct it! See terms and conditions. 19:32, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

Research into the user pages of Wikipedians: Invitation to participate

Greetings,

My name is John-Paul and I am a student with the University of Alberta specializing in Communications and Technology.

I would like to include your Wikipedia user page in a study I am doing about how people present themselves online. I am interested in whether people see themselves in different ways, online and offline. One of the things I am looking at is how contributors to Wikipedia present themselves to each other through their user pages. Would you consider letting me include your user page in my study?

With your consent, I will read and analyze your user page, and ask you five short questions about it that will take about ten to fifteen minutes to answer. I am looking at about twenty user pages belonging to twenty different people. I will be looking at all user pages together, looking for common threads in the way people introduce themselves to other Wikipedians.

I hope that my research will help answer questions about how people collaborate, work together, and share knowledge. If you are open to participating in this study, please reply to this message, on your User Talk page or on mine. I will provide you with a complete description of my research, which you can use to decide if you want to participate.

Thank-you,

John-Paul Mcvea
