New Preston[edit]

Great work on expanding the article on the village of New Preston, including a description of the historic district within it. I recently created a redirect from "New Preston Hill Historic District" to the village article but another editor has created a boilerplate stub article instead. It looks to me that a description of the historic district already exists in the village article. Do you think it's better to redirect the historic district article to the village article instead? Thank you for the kind words. I'm new to this and am just now noticing your messages (and probably not replying in the proper format). Re: my historic architecture additions, I'd suggest leaving them on the New Preston page because the National Register District is limited to a narrow corridor along New Preston Hill Road, and many of New Preston's historically important buildings are located in the village center and around Lake Waramaug, which are not included in the National Register District -K

I agree that discussing all the historic architecture within the context of the New Preston article would be better than having a separate New Preston Hill Historic District article. Citing sources[edit]

Hi. You've added a lot of sources to articles, all (or at least mostly) in the form of bare URLs. Those are better than nothing, but they aren't particularly good as references. See Wikipedia:Bare URLs for discussion of some of the reasons why they should not be used. Please start supplying reference details, such as title, author, date, publisher -- the kinds of things that would be required in a traditional school term paper. Without those kinds of details, your contributions are in danger of getting deleted when URLs turn bad -- and other contributors may not even know where to begin to look for the content. --Orlady (talk) 03:50, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

8000 C.E.[edit]

You have been adding the date 8000 C.E. to articles in place of statements in the form "about 10,000 years ago." 8000 CE is roughly 6000 years in the future, not 10,000 years ago. Moreover, when talking about something that is dated so vaguely as the approximate arrival of humans in Connecticut, it is over-precision to suggest that this occurred "in about" any specific dated year.
