Neighborhoods and Zones of Billings, Montana[edit]

OK, China Alley way back in early 1900's Billings had a small Chinese population. I don't know all the exact history about it but you can find info on it in the Book, Billings: A to Z at the library and it, China Alley, still exists. You could have told me that Overland Park was the business park, I was thinking of the park where you have a playground and such...Please be specific next time ok? Next time, if you have info that should be added, post it on the article's discussion page first and we'll have a civil discussion.

Largest City-Metro populations of the Pacific Northwest[edit]

You reverted one of my edits to Largest City-Metro populations of the Pacific Northwest with the comment "Undid revision 402752417 by Jimmy Pitt (talk) I undid vandalism to this page". Now I don't know what the hell you consider vandalism,, but by no stretch of the imagination could my edit be regarded as such. I actually made two changes: I added a missing comma, and I removed a space from before a period and inserted the space after it. You might not like the rest of the page, but calling my edits "vandalism" is totally unwarranted. Jimmy Pitt talk 22:36, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re List of Mountain Ranges in Montana[edit]

Linda, I reverted your edit on the Pryor Mountains because officially (USGS) their center is in Carbon County not Big Horn County. Many ranges span multiple counties, but only the one listed by USGS is used in the article. The article lists the range elevation from USGS data (not necessarily the highest peak in the range). --Mike Cline (talk) 20:01, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

One problem with the USGS is that mountain ranges span several counties and the "geographic middle" is sort of useless at times. You sure as heck aren't going to access the Pryors from Red Lodge! LOL! Montanabw(talk) 23:34, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Pryor Mountains references[edit]

Linda, good work on the Pryor Mountains article. I updated your references using {{cite book}} and {{cite web}} templates. I beleive using the templates provides good consistency across articles and helps editors include all the appropriate bibliographic data. This is especially true of using {{cite web}} instead of bare URLs. Bare Urls are confusing at best, don't necessarily convey the nature of the source and thus must be followed to be of any use to a reader. Using {{cite web}} at least ensures the citation has a meaningful title. The templates are easy to remember and use and much more on all the available templates are found at WP:CT. I would encourage you to familarize yourself with them and use appropriate templates when the opportunity arises. If you need any help, don't hesitate to ask. Thanks --Mike Cline (talk) 14:39, 24 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Linda. To add to Mike's comment, any cite is better than no cite, so even if all you add is a URL, at least the rest of us can check it out and verify it. However, over time, we eventually have to add in those (damn) templates or in some other way put in full bibliographical info, and so if you do not use them at the time, then someone else has to later. I used to just use wiki markup syntax to do citations, but I will admit the templates do all that for you, so even though they are a little challenging to learn to use (at least, I adopted them kicking and screaming and still tend to duck them unless I'm trying to get an article award of some sort -- my eyes have a hard time sorting (, [, and { on my little laptop screen) I've personally noted over the years that links often do go dead, and if there is a full cite, then we can often find another version of the same material with a simple search (there's also the Wayback machine, but it doesn't always unearth what is needed). So anyway, something is better than nothing, but if you can provide more complete info, it is muchly appreciated by others! And as Mike said, feel free to ask any of us for help! Panorama[edit]

Hi Linda

You recently re-added the Panorama of Downtown Billings to the Billings, Montana page. I agree we need an image like that on the Billings page but that one is very dated there has been many changes to downtown. I intend to take a new image of pretty much that same shot but with all the fires lately it has not been clear enough to get a good shoot in addition to even being able to find the time to take the images. I would very much like to re-add one of my more recent images that another editor deleted. This person thinks there is to many images I don’t agree but just to keep peace I would like to delete the Panorama before I re-add the more resent image. I will add a new panorama when I get a good one taken, I would also like to delete the JFK image it has little to do with this page. Let me know what you think please. Sara goth (talk) 19:14, 1 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Note, I am not being mean to anyone to toss that breathless prose in the "attractions" section of the Billings article, see notes on that article's talk page and please discuss before mass reverting me again. Montanabw(talk) 00:03, 7 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

please point out when I accused you of being mean? what the Linda Rider (talk) 01:17, 7 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

May have been sara goth's edit summary, and you DID just accuse me of being "vindictive." Jesus H. Christ, grow up, all I did was put a few red marks on your term paper and give you a "C." Montanabw(talk) 16:49, 7 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

? you lost me on the first part of that. I get the paper part, kind of rude but I get it. Linda Rider (talk) 21:43, 7 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

BTW an editor called Sara Goth and I "you gals", the whole thing is in the section below. It was on the Billings talk page but someone edited it out. In your opinion was I out of line to be offended?" Linda Rider (talk) 21:56, 7 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Some. If it had been "baby, honey" or something worse, then getting upset might have been warranted, but to me, "gals" and "guys" are pretty equivalent. Montanabw(talk) 23:08, 7 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Question[edit]

Thanks for adding the new photo (I happen to like that one as well). Is it ok if I move the photo and your comment to the list of photos that are there, so it's not in a section by itself? Just wanted to make sure it's ok with you before I just went and did it. (Oh, and thanks for catching my brain fart on the attendance at MSUB) ALH (talk) 22:33, 18 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sure That is fine I was just having a hard time getting this to line up so I added a new section. I just added a couple more pictures from commons.

Linda Rider (talk) 02:50, 19 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'll be sure to get those in. (I did set it up kinda weird) ALH (talk) 05:13, 19 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for December 19[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Yellowstone Art Museum, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page John Pollock. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Got you covered[edit]

I have some images I took of the museum some time back, I have images of the vault as well. The ones of the vault may be all inside images. I will try to load them to the commons this week and feel free to use them.

Yellowstone Art Museum[edit]

Hello! Have been off-wiki for a while and just noticed the request for pictures. I can definitely take some photos in the next couple of weeks. The exterior of the Vault is finished (I think) and it looks artsy now. Once they are on Commons I'll stick a few in the article. If you'd rather have different pictures go ahead and make the switch. Thanks!--Tbennert (talk) 19:49, 29 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
