AfD nomination of Palace Theatre (Kilmarnock)[edit]

I have nominated Palace Theatre (Kilmarnock), an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Palace Theatre (Kilmarnock). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Megapen (talk) 21:00, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Kings Theatre, Kilmarnock[edit]

A tag has been placed on Kings Theatre, Kilmarnock requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. —— Ryant | c 11:48, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As reviewing administrator, I think the article does not fit into any speedy category, so I did not delete it. But it will almost certainly be nominated for eletion & probably deleted if further content is not added quickly . DGG (talk) 14:18, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of "King Street, Kilmarnock"[edit]

A page you created, King Street, Kilmarnock, has been tagged for deletion in accordance with our deletion policy. In particular, it meets one or more criteria for speedy deletion; the relevant criterion is:

No indication of importance/significance. An article about a real person, group of people, band, club, company, organisation, or web content that does not indicate why its subject is important or significant.

Wikipedia has certain standards for inclusion that all articles must meet. Certain types of article must establish the notability of their subject by asserting its importance or significance. Additionally, since Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, content inappropriate for an encyclopedia, or content that would be more suited to somewhere else (such as a directory or social networking website) is not acceptable. See What Wikipedia is not for the relevant policy.

You are welcome to contribute content which complies with our content policies and any applicable inclusion guidelines. However, please do not simply re-create the page with the same content. You may also wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article.

If you have any questions, please contact an administrator for assistance. Thank you treelo talk 11:49, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As reviewing administrator, I think the article also does not fit into any speedy category--see the wording above. But it will almost certainly be nominated for deletion & probably deleted if further content is not added quickly. DGG (talk) 14:18, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Kilmarnock articles[edit]

Greetings, Mccarthystumble! I'd like to reiterate the welcome message you received above, and say: welcome to Wikipedia. I appreciated your response on the talk page for John Finnie Street. Don't be ashamed by your enthusiasm—your edits appear to have been in good faith, and your inexperience will diminish. (Hopefully, your enthusiasm will not.) There are instructions for merging content at WP:merge and especially here; other editors with more experience than I have may be able to help your further. If I may offer some general advice, please review the helpful guides listed in the welcome message at the top of this page, try to keep things organized as you edit, keep in mind that major landmarks and monuments are probably more suited to the Kilmarnock article than individual streets, and above all, do your best! Thank you. Kevin Forsyth (talk) 02:41, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortuantely I don't really know how do do merges myself. Maybe a suggestion for something would be to put a section on the Kilmarnock page, something like "Leisure and activites", maybe a better name though. This could cover the main attractions for leisure past and present. Maybe have a mention on how there used to be a large number of cinemas in Kilmarnock, put in the public parks and so on. By the way, have you seen Frank Beatties Kilmarnock Memories book, its a few years old now, but it reappeared in my local Asda and has some good info and pictures. BMK[edit]

How well versed are you in BMK in Kilmarnock, the article on the company is being considered for deletion as 'non notable'. I'd say in fact that BMK were very well known. I've cleared up some of the article that was started as it originally concentrated more on the demolished office block and saying that somehow the office block being demolished was linked with Safeway closing and AMH closing. Neither of which had any connection. Douglasnicol (talk) 16:59, 31 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have some reasonably interesting information but it is scattered between various sources. I see though that the BMK page has now been deleted. If I have time I will draft some stuff together with a view to adding it to the main Kilmarnock page or it's own page (Mccarthystumble (talk) 10:18, 4 June 2008 (UTC))[reply]

The article Kings Theatre, Kilmarnock has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No evidence of Notability and tagged for 18 months.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Rodhullandemu 23:20, 12 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
