Welcome![edit]

Hello, MeetDrBen, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or any other editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One firm rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! February 2014[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that the username you have chosen, "MeetDrBen", seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of something other than yourself. Please note that you may not edit on behalf of a company, group, institution, product, or website which relates to the entity in question, and Wikipedia does not allow usernames that are promotional or accounts that are shared. If you are willing to use a personal account, please take a moment to create a new account or request a username change that represents only yourself as an individual. You should also read our Conflict of interest guideline and Plain and simple conflict of interest guide, and remember that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 13:55, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Page protection[edit]

Can I block Dr. Benjamin F. Chavis's page from being edited? Since I am Dr. Chavis, I would like to be the only source that can edit my page; I would know my life better then anyone else.

Thanks!

Absolutely not, and it is not technically possible anyway. We can restrict new users or regular users from editing, that's all.
In fact, you should not be editing your own page at all, due to your obvious conflict of interest with yourself. See WP:COI for guidance.
It is fine for you to make small corrections (spelling, numbers, typos, etc.), but anything more substantial should be proposed on the article talk page. Also, Wikipedia articles should not contain any information that is not verifiable in publicly available-reliable published sources. Personal knowledge is not considered a valid source of information. See WP:RS and WP:V for the polices on reliable sources and verifiability, respectively. ~Amatulić (talk) 20:09, 11 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
In addition to those policy links, WP:OWN may be helpful as well. - The Bushranger One ping only 02:36, 13 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your account is blocked[edit]

Your contribution history includes these two edits:

  • here states "I am the Publicist and Manager of Dr. Benjamin n F. Chavis, Jr."
  • here states "I am Dr. Chavis".

It is obvious that this account is accessible to multiple people, violating Wikipedia's WP:NOSHARE policy that requires any account to represent a single individual. Therefore, this account is now blocked as a compromised account. Compromised accounts can never be unblocked.

You and your publicist are free to create new, separate, user accounts. Do not share them.

Also, because you and your publicist clearly have a conflict of interest concerning you, both new accounts must disclose the conflict of interest, on your user page or talk page. See WP:COI for guidance.

Also remember, as someone with a conflict of interest, you should not make substantial changes to the article about you. Propose them on the talk page instead. ~Amatulić (talk) 17:56, 13 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
