M. Night Shyamalan

In the history of that article, I see that you added it with no edit summary; it was then removed by Moulee (talk · contribs) who gave the edit summary, "His language is Malayalam and its the only script should be displayed here", and then you added it again with this edit, again with no edit summary.

I also see that you are getting into an edit war. Please stop immediately. Your account could be blocked because of the 3 revert rule.

Please a) always use the edit summary to explain your edits, and b) if someone removes one of your edits, do not add it again. Instead, you should discuss it with the user, or discuss it on the article discussion page (in this case, Talk:M. Night Shyamalan. Explain your reasoning, and discuss it with the others.

If you have troubles, or are unable to reach a consensus with the others, please let me know and I'll help further.

Good luck,  Chzz  ►  05:18, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

(edit conflict - I was about to reply to the text you've now removed...I will still paste my reply...)

Yes, I've seen that discussion - obviously a WP:consensus has not been reached; therefore, you should not change the article until consensus can be formed. If you keep trying to add the same thing without edit summaries and discussion, your account may be blocked.
Please try to discuss it with the user, if at all possible. If that doesn't work, see the dispute guide for ideas - such as getting a 3rd party to mediate.
I'm being perfectly even-handed about this; I've left a note to the other user. (Oh, one thing by the way, it is not at all necessary to get an account to edit on Wikipedia - this is 'the encyclopaedia anyone can edit' - and anonymous IP editing is just fine).
I hope you'll be able to discuss the issue and reach some kind of agreement on what is best for Wikipedia. If not...if you have problems, please let me know and I'll see how I can help.
Keep up the good work trying to improve articles, cheers,  Chzz  ►  05:39, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome[edit]

Hi, Moulee. This is NOT some automated message...it's from a real person. You can talk to me right now. Welcome to Wikipedia! I noticed you've just joined, and wanted to give you a few tips to get you started. If you have any questions, please talk to us. The tips below should help you to get started. Best of luck!  Chzz  ►  05:22, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

ようこそ
  • You don't need to read anything - anybody can edit; just go to an article and edit it. Be Bold, but please don't put silly stuff in - it will be removed very quickly, and will annoy people.
  • Ask for help. Talk to us live, or edit this page, put {{helpme}} and describe what help you need. Someone will reply very quickly - usually within a few minutes.
  • Edit existing articles, before you make your own. Look at some subjects that you know about, and see if you can make them a bit better. For example, Wikipedia:Cleanup#2009.
  • When you're ready, read about Your first article. It should be about something well-known, and it will need references.

Good luck with editing; please drop me a line some time on my own talk page.

There's lots of information below. Once again, welcome to the fantastic world of Wikipedia!

Advise regarding the discussion[edit]

{{helpme}} Hi, i am pretty new to the editing stuff in wikipedia, i just came across this article, Shyamalan, where a user asked bout Tamil pronounciation in the article. I added it and someother user who doesnt want it there kept removing the content. We r currently discussing bout the issue, i am not pretty sure if i am handling it in the right way also i dont want to just waste my time or the other users time on a silly issue, i would like to have the advise of some experienced user on the issue [1]

  • So long as you're adding it with a source, I don't see what the problem is. You could always try talking to the IP on their talk page. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Many ottersOne hammerHELP) 14:16, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ah i tried talking to him, as u could have seen in the discussion the person doesnt want anyother Indian language to be at par with his/her language or the one that is already present there, so I dont want the discussion to turn out to be another ugly war between Indian languages. So, should i wait for the persons reply or shouldi add the pronounciation. Moulee (talk) 15:30, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Help on creating third opinion[edit]

{{helpme}} I am pretty new to editing stuff on wiki and this may be dumb, but i went through the contents and templates,

i am unable to understand how to create a third opinion page here on wiki.

COuld someone help me on creating one for page or guide me on creating one. Thank you.Moulee (talk) 21:35, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The directions for this can be found at Wikipedia:Third opinion. To add a request for a third opinion, click the [edit] button next to "Active disagreements" and put something like the following:
# [[Talk:M. Night Shyamalan#Pronounciation]]. Disagreement about whether to have pronunciation of his name. ~~~~~
at the bottom of the section. You may change the description to something that you feel is more appropriate. Then press "Save page" in order to request a third opinion. You may also add {{3O}} to the article M. Night Shyamalan to let other users know there is a discussion and invite others to participate. Please let me know if there are any more questions. Thanks! --Mysdaao talk 22:36, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, i have added the third opinion page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:M._Night_Shyamalan#Disagreement_on_pronounciation_and_looking_for_third_opinion could you please look if it is the right way? thanks:) 22:48, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
That is not correct. You must place that at Wikipedia:Third opinion, under the section "Active disagreements". Also, {{3O}} should go on the article page at M. Night Shyamalan, not on the talk page. --Mysdaao talk 23:11, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I do not see any active disagreements right now, should i create a new section called active disagreements in the talk page? Moulee (talk) 23:17, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No, do not put the text on any talk page. Put it at Wikipedia:Third opinion#Active disagreements. That's where the active disagreements are. --Mysdaao talk 23:28, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much :)
You're welcome! --Mysdaao talk 00:45, 9 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
