Disambiguation link notification for May 18[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Nguyễn Trần Diệu Thúy, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Tiền Phong. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:00, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

About citations in the lead[edit]

Thanks for your changes to Louis XIV, and the addition of five short footnotes to the lead. I see that you're still relatively new here, and I wonder if you know that since the lead is a summary of the main body of the article, and does not contain new, unique information not already present and cited in the body, there's generally no need to include footnotes in the lead at all. This is not a hard and fast rule, and if the article is on a controversial topic, then it may make sense to include some footnotes, to forestall edit warring or unnecessary strife on the Talk page. But for an article like Louis XIV, the lead citations are really not necessary. They're not wrong, either, so there's no reason to remove them now that they're there; it's just that they're not really an improvement, and editor time is valuable, and the article could benefit from your time in other ways.

I notice for example, that there are at least two {{citation needed}} tags in that article, and the whole section #Minority and the Fronde is tagged as needing additional citations. If you want to help improve the article, your time would be better spent on those items, imho, rather than finding references for the lead.

That said, you may run across articles where the lead has distinct, or unique information not covered in the article body at all. This is contrary to the WP:LEAD guideline, and in that case, rather than add a citation for the unique info in the lead, you should simply move it out of the lead and source it in the body, instead. See MOS:LEADNOTUNIQUE, and WP:CITELEAD. Thanks for your contributions, and happy editing! Mathglot (talk) 06:31, 20 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
