Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:Douglas_Macgregor.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, this is in fact not the case[1][2]. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial. See our non-free content guidelines for more more information.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. Angus McLellan (Talk) 22:04, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. If this is a US Army image, it should probably have the {{PD-USGOV}} license tag. Hope this helps!

Macgregor

[edit]

Welcome back Steelgunner, it is nice to see you make some edits to Douglas Macgregor. I've made some edits to the page myself trying to clean it up. I haven't had a chance to review your edits, but I know on the talk page you mentioned you would help out. (I guess you're back from Iraq, if so, welcome home!) Take a look at some of our policies if you get a chance, WP:NPOV, WP:V, WP:OR, and WP:RS. Because of your personal experience, it may be hard for you to be the most neutral editor at Douglas Macgregor. So I'll tell you what someone told me when I started here. Try branching out to other articles and following policies there. There are many, but I know Rand Corporation for one needs work. I started off editing one article, PFOA, a ton, and I drew some suspicious looks. When you primarily edit one page, it looks like a WP:SPA which aren't always well received, but I think SPA's can turn out to be great editors too. Anyways, welcome back! -Shootbamboo (talk) 00:22, 15 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

edit summaries

[edit]

when you edit pages, please provide edit summaries. thanks. -Shootbamboo (talk) 01:43, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Where (page number) and what does the book say to support this statement: "Breaking the Phalanx was translated into Chinese and read by senior officers inside the People's Liberation Army (PLA)."? Your reference made it seem like it wasn't in the book. So I thought it was likely WP:OR or personal knowledge. Thanks. -Shootbamboo (talk) 20:13, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
