Welcome[edit]

Hello, Ukraina, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

If you are interested in Ukraine-related themes, you may want to check out the Ukraine Portal, particularly the Portal:Ukraine/New article announcements and Portal:Ukraine/Ukraine-related Wikipedia notice board. The New article announcements board is probably the most important and the most attended one. Please don't forget to anounce there the new articles you create. Adding both boards to your watchlist is probably a good idea.

Finally, in case you are interested, similar boards exist at Russia portal as many editors contribute to topics related to both countries. The respective boards there are: Portal:Russia/New article announcements and Portal:Russia/Russia-related Wikipedia notice board. Of course there are also many other portals at Wikipedia or you may just get right into editing.

Again, welcome! —dima /sb.tk/ 21:56, 24 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Username[edit]

Thank you for your contributions to Drohobych and Seret River. They are good, we want more of that.

Can I ask you to to change your username? It is not forbidden by WP:U but strongly discuraged to have names like User:America or User:USA or User:Australia or User:Russia, etc. The new users can decide that you have a special authority over the Ukrainian issues on Wikipedia, or that it is a kind of a collective account for Ukrainian users or that the link to your userpage go to some Ukrainian portal, etc. There are also possible potential embarrassing situations then a phrase will have double meaning depending if it relates to a User or to the country. Like: "block Ukraina", "warn Ukraina", "revert Ukraina", "thanks, Ukraina" would become potentially quite charged sentences. Some users may intentionally exploit the potential for the double-meaning.

Please, go to WP:CHU and request changing username for something less loaded. If you will have any difficulties filing this request, please ask me for the help.

Thank you very much again for your contributions abakharev 03:47, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Caledon Lake[edit]

A reader wrote to Wikimedia ticket:2016081010012343 disagreeing with the assertion that there is a public conservation area and claiming the lake is private property. Could you look into this and if there actually is a public conservation area provide more information including references?--S Philbrick(Talk) 15:37, 10 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

She must be a local under misapprehension of the law and local geography. More: https://muhdestinations.wordpress.com/2016/08/07/caledon-lake-a-unfortunately-co-opted-local-gem/ and elsewhere
