Adding a contents box[edit]

Virchu: I need to know how to add a contents box and individual sections when starting a brand new Wikipedia page.
- The sections are written like this:

- which will create a title and the section below it. As for a table of contents, that's added automatically when there are enough sections (3, I think, but I might have remembered that incorrectly). Why does Wikipedia allow users to blank pages?[edit]
Because it's so easy for people to revert. It only took me about 20 seconds to put my userpage back the way it was, after I noticed you had changed it in my watchlist. If you'd tried that on an article, it would be likely to be changed back near-instantly by Recent Changes patrollers unless you gave a good reason in the edit summary; they could also have given you a warning pretty quickly as well if the blanking had looked malicious. Also, it's technically hard to identify a good blanking from a bad one. Hope that helps! --ais523 18:09, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
Communication[edit]
As it happens, I don't use instant-messaging services (except for IRC, but I don't use that in connection with Wikipedia). My Wikipedia talk page is normally enough for communication about Wikipedia-related things. Hope that helps! --ais523 18:14, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
- I just logged off IRC as it happens, and I'm about to log off Wikpiedia for the time being too because I'm busy in real life. (By the way: irc.freenode.net, and #esoteric, if you were wondering). I don't use IRC in connection with Wikipedia due to the concerns of some editors that there's no transparency in actions discussed there. {{helpme}} is probably best in attracting help if you need to ask a question, mostly because not everyone can be online all the time (and I'm online less than most, as it happens); you could also try the help desk, which is slower, but produces more comprehensive replies. Image Posting[edit]

- It seems otherwise ok but the image itself is just a downsampled version of Image:Kingrisinglevitation2.nwr.jpg. Did you really take the picture yourself? --KFP (talk | contribs) 22:46, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, I just noticed that you used the {{PD-self}} image copyright tag (which states "I, the creator of this work, hereby release it into the public domain...") on the image page. That tag is for cases where the uploader and creator of the image are the same person. As for searching, Wikipedia doesn't actually have an effective search engine for images. - I found it almost accidentally from Wikimedia Commons, the Wikimedia Foundation's shared media repository. It is possible to search for images using Wiki's own search engine or an external one such as Google. This, however doesn't work as well as, for example, Flickr's image search. Hello, and welcome! You seem to have an interest in candies: I enjoy working on those pages, too. I noticed that you made some changes to the Ferrara Pan Candy Company article. This is your last warning. The next time you insert a spam link, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted as well, preventing anyone from linking to them from any site that uses the MediaWiki spam blacklist, which includes all of Wikimedia and Wikipedia.
