License tagging for Image:Swing Swindlers copy.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Swing Swindlers copy.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 15:08, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

  • Please supply free use rationale for the image you uploaded to the Swing Swindlers article. Unspecified source for Image:Queen's-Visit-small.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Queen's-Visit-small.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 12:15, 8 December 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Nv8200p talk 12:15, 8 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Estonian National Opera[edit]

Please add a citation to a review or independent source (see WP:V and WP:RS) to verify that Mart Sander was employed by the Estonian National Opera. Also the Swing Swindlers article needs many more verifiable sources. Thanks. -- Ssilvers (talk) 05:26, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Thanks for the cite to your website, but you need to cite an INDEPENDENT source for this statement. A review or roster site, perhaps? Best regards. -- Ssilvers (talk) 20:21, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Problems with upload of File:M.Sander - Self Portrait As A Disappointed Artist.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:M.Sander - Self Portrait As A Disappointed Artist.jpg. You don't seem to have said where the image came from, who created it, or what the copyright status is. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

To add this information, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the information to the image's description. If you need help, post your question on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

License tagging for File:Sander-M-Mediaeval Madonna.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Sander-M-Mediaeval Madonna.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 22:06, 3 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright Licensing[edit]

Copyright problem icon Your addition has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text, or images borrowed from other websites, or printed material without a verifiable license; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Snuggums (talk / edits) 01:29, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This should help when it comes to licensing material. Snuggums (talk / edits) 01:54, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:M.Sander - Self Portrait As A Disappointed Artist, 2010.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:M.Sander - Self Portrait As A Disappointed Artist, 2010.jpg, which you've attributed to Mart Sander. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ronhjones  (Talk) 17:39, 15 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Mart Sander - Mediaeval Madonna, 40x33 Oil on Canvas.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Pictures of Paintings[edit]

If you wish to upload images of paintings you will have to use WP:DCM to show that you have enough permission to do so. Identity cannot be validated within Wikipedia page - all editors are anonymous, we have no way of verifying who you are. Ronhjones  (Talk) 17:42, 15 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The article Swing Swindlers has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:NOTABLE. Does not meet the criteria of WP:BAND. No references or citations in article except for own websites etc. No independent material apparently available on google or webs-search

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
