Wake Up, Ron Burgundy: The Lost Movie is an American comedy film assembled from abandoned subplots and unused alternate takes from the film Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. It was released on December 28, 2004.
It stars Will Ferrell as pompous TV news anchor Ron Burgundy and Christina Applegate (as Veronica Corningstone), David Koechner (as sportscaster Champ Kind), Steve Carell (as slow-witted weatherman Brick Tamland) and Paul Rudd (as field reporter Brian Fantana). Fred Willard and Chris Parnell co-star as high-ranking executives of the station. The movie also features Maya Rudolph, Amy Poehler, Kevin Corrigan, Chuck D, Tara Subkoff, and Chad Everett, none of whom were included in the original Anchorman. Bill Kurtis narrates. It was written by Ferrell and Adam McKay, and directed by McKay.
The film, released straight to DVD, is available in the United States and Canada in a gift set with Anchorman, and in the UK and Ireland both as part of a Will Ferrell boxset, and paired with the original film. Although some of the footage is the same, the plot is different from the theatrical release. Select DVD copies contain a copy of Ron Burgundy's journal titled "The Many Months of Ron Burgundy". It is now available on the "Rich Mahogany Edition" of Anchorman on Blu Ray.
[edit] Plot summary
