We Are Pilots is the major label debut album by Los Angeles-based band Shiny Toy Guns. It was released on October 17, 2006 by Universal Motown[3] and is the third release by the band following two independently released versions of the album also titled We Are Pilots. The liner notes reflect this with "version 3.0".
The first single,"Le Disko", peaked at #26,[4] the second single, "You Are the One", peaked at #25,[5] and the third single, "Rainy Monday", reached #23[6] on the Alternative Songs chart. "Don't Cry Out" was originally announced to be the third single and continues to hold its place as an all-time fan favorite.[citation needed]
The album peaked at #90 on the Billboard 200[7] and #1 on the Top Heatseekers chart.[8] The album was also nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Electronic/Dance Album at the 50th Grammy Awards.[9]
Several We Are Pilots tracks originated with earlier influences of the founding band members, Chad and Jeremy. "Chemistry Of A Car Crash" and "Starts With One" developed from tracks of the same title from Chad's previous band, Dangerous Insects.[10] "You Are the One" has its roots in Jeremy's trance song "Neo", that was put out under the Slyder moniker. This song was used in the popular video games Grand Theft Auto III and FIFA 07.[11]
