I feel that an indef ban is too harsh here. Something like 3 months should have been enough to give this editor a chance to mitigate his behavior and become more experienced in the ways of Wikipedia. Debresser (talk) 07:16, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Especially since this was opened just today. I for one received a notice about this complaint just 10 minutes ago. Also note that no other admins have yet have time to express their opinion, and in view of the seriousness of this forum, admins at WP:AE should preferably make consensus decisions. Debresser (talk) 07:19, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Your view is noted, but I disagree. AE actions are unilateral and do not require discussion or consensus by either admins or other users. Discussion and consensus are, however, a factor if there is an appeal. Sandstein 10:18, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Proposal at AE

Sandstein, I would like to mentor Yaniv. I have made a statement at AE outlining terms, and I note that the AE has not yet been closed on the page. I would request that you allow this proposal to stand on the record, and to see if it is an acceptable alternative that the community can consider. Simon Adler (talk) 14:01, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, not accepted. I do not know you and do not have the time to supervise any such arrangement. In any case, it is my view that people who want to edit controversial topic areas such as WP:AC/DS topics need to be competent enough to be able to do so on their own. Sandstein 14:08, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Appeal based on mentoring

Noted, in which case I would request that you would consider an appeal based on my proposal, which Yaniv should himself of course make. Would you be amenable to that? I do not 'know' you either, which does not appear to be a relevant point. It could be handed over to another admin could it not, if they were amenable in any case. Simon Adler (talk) 14:09, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
As you write, any appeal must be made by the sanctioned user themselves, and I will express an opinion based on the content of any such appeal. Sandstein 14:12, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a remedy available to me to dispute this decision or file a formal complaint?

Hello. Your name was offered by Drmies as some who might know the answer to this question per the discussion here. I would be grateful if you can point me in the right direction. Veritycheck✔️ (talk) 13:21, 22 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

There is no procedure that I am aware of that allows an appeal against a decision not to sanction a user, other than perhaps a request for arbitration. Sandstein 13:39, 22 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Can you point me to a link where I can initiate the process? This is a first for me. Veritycheck✔️ (talk) 13:45, 22 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I'd rather not, because it will be almost certainly unsuccessful and a waste of time for everybody involved. Sandstein 13:50, 22 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Appeal

Please note that I have appealed my topic ban from the Arab-Israeli conflict here: Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Enforcement#Arbitration enforcement action appeal by פֿינצטערניש פֿינצטערניש (talk) 13:35, 22 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Arbitration

You are involved in a recently filed request for arbitration. Please review the request at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case# Admin Drmies conduct and, if you wish to do so, enter your statement and any other material you wish to submit to the Arbitration Committee. As threaded discussion is not permitted on most arbitration pages, please ensure that you make all comments in your own section only. Additionally, the guide to arbitration and the Arbitration Committee's procedures may be of use.

Thanks, Veritycheck✔️ (talk) 22:04, 22 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
