Instructions

If you notice that a Wikipedia user is showing signs of stress, taking a wikibreak, or considering leaving the project altogether, please add the user to the appropriate list below so that the Esperanza community can intervene with encouraging comments and suggestions. You are welcome to add your own username to any of the lists if you wish to receive support from the community. Or if someone else has added your user name to the list and you wish to be left alone, you may remove yourself from the list.

Each entry should remain on this page until the issue is resolved or for approximately one month.

DoomsDay349 Went on Wikibreak several days ago, was supposed to return on the 26th of October but couldn't keep myself away...so I'm back. 01:36, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
Essjay Back after a few months' break 04:26, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
Kyo cat Had to leave to bring up grades, but I'm allowed back on because my report card had awesome grades. Will only edit on weekends, or on holidays. I have to keep up with homework and practice for guitar concert at school. 01:55, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
Canadian-Bacon In light of the recent incidents with both the CVU and Esperanza I will be returning to normal editing levels from my once-every-few-days pattern the past few months. 09:38, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
Tim Rhymeless I'm back, after fighting my computer to return. Want to find something to do besides my normal extensive watchlist patrol, and perhaps I've a few ideas... 04:04, 27 November 2006.

Leaving Wikipedia

User: Reason: Date:
User:CanadianCaesar Deleted userpage 04:20, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
User:RasputinAXP Left Wikipedia and got de-admined. 20:43, 8 September 2006 (UTC)
User:JCarriker Left Wikipedia, requested de-admin. 20:43, 8 September 2006 (UTC)
User:Worldtraveller De-admined and left; see user page. 03:40, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
User:Essexmutant De-admined and left; see user page. 03:40, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
User:Marudubshinki There could be many reasons why he left, but the most immediate is probably his RfAr. He archived his talk page, replaced the content on his user page with what seems like a riddle, and protected it. His last edit was informing me of his plans to leave. 23:15, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
Werdna Mesage on talk page saying he's leaving (might have to do with TawkerbotTorA) 03:00, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
User:Aaron Not willing to deal with being wikistalked any more; admins intentionally ignoring my messages. 23:56, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
User:Konstable Message on user talk say's he's leaving. 23:22, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
Imoeng According to his userpage and a conversation we had on MSN Messenger, he is leaving Wikipedia because the time he spends on it could be better spent pursuing his real-life goals as a guitarist. He is one of my best Wikifriends, an exceptional newcomer, and a potential admin. Without him, WP:RFF and WP:INA would collapse. --J.L.W.S. The Special One 04:47, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Pursey I'm out of here. Today I said I'm taking a few weeks off due to illness and stress. However, I don't think I wish to contribute to Wikipedia anymore. The MfD's recently have been ludicrous, my RfA and the crap I have to put up with when I make minor edits to pages or revert vandalism shows that the people seem to be overly harsh and unappreciative. Sorry. Pursey 22:26, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply] Left on 19 November 2006.

Louie Finishing Dissertation. No sooner than Sept. 3, 2006

Jfingers88 Working on Campaigns Wikia 00:40, 2 September 2006 (UTC) to at least up to November US elections
Nodoubt9203 Busy with school as per message on Esperanza talk page I have no clue, ask the user.
Eilicea I haven't been on Wikipedia for a month, but I just wanted to explain why; I don't have any time anymore because of school and track. I will try to edit when I can, though. Not that I was ever a long-term Wikipedia editor, but whatever. Sporadic editing until I can find a store that sells time. jk:)
Aeon1006 Per message on userpage, appears to be very busy. Sometime next year?
IAMTHEEGGMANΔdark side ANGRY! WILL NOT BE ON WIKIPEDIA FOR A WHILE OR UNTIL WITHDRAWS START! DAMN ESPERANZA MESS UPS! I AM SO GOD DAMN PISSED!... sorry... i'm just stressed from the overhaul... i won't be here for a while... or like the angry note said 02:15, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
Ed ¿Cómo estás? The MfD's and the Overhauls have been getting me really stressed lately. Also, I've been having difficulties in my high school classes, and I need to get ready for my semester finals in a few weeks. I'll be editng less frequently here as I study for my tests. 02:59, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
Terence Ong No more stamina to edit, just staring at the Wikipedia pages day by day. Don't have any mood to do xFDs, article writing, discussions or any other Wikipedia work. It's just blatantly staring at the screen, I feel like I'm senile. I somehow just lost most of my stamina, editing skills, passion and my hobby. This is worse than before, don't have that Wiki spirit unlike in the past. Used to love writing articles, uploading pics, doing admin-related work, community work, discussions and help out with other things. These are all gone now. Besides, I will be here for a week holiday (December 6 to December 12. Hope to return in full swing when I return. 06:47, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

Stressed Users

User: Reason: Date:
Julz I just don't feel like getting on. Getting boring and I got ticked off about the whole PreTeen thing.I just wanted to help collaberate with other preteens. But apprently people felt I was running a cult or something. I'm Meh'd out. Probably anytime in a month or 2.
CFIF I am just so freaking tired of people nominating my pages that I created and worked hard on for deletion, it's really starting to get to me and I'm wondering if people are doing this on purpose. 03:30, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
Ghirlandajo An incoherent RfArb against Ghirlandajo, one of Wikipedia's most prolific users, resulted in so many hate messages that he is considering leaving alltogether. See the message on his talk page. With Giano gone as a result of a similar incident, Wikipedia is badly damaged. 00:58, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
User:Hemhem20X6 AHH!!!!!!! I'm completely stressed out from home right now! Help!
Tdxiang Exam stress... I need some support. Encouragement. That's all.
Aaron Jethro Possible stress, possibly leaving. Had userpage and subpages deleted. 17:31, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
User:Ki Longfellow Left a message on AntiVandalBot's talk page after getting a warning for blanking an article s/he contributed. I get the feeling this user is leaving Wikipedia after having some problems learning the ropes and taking clean-up messages personally.
Deryck C. Tired of having my IP blocked whenever I desperately want to edit - WMF never seems to understand that all IPs in Hong Kong are shared, and they keep blocking and unblocking the IPs in Hong Kong continuously, not realizing that within an hour after the IP is blocked, the vandal is switched to another IP and another editor falls victim of this block. 07:39, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
Emes Stress meter is going off the wazoo. Has issues with User:Rarelibra and others about the naming of Trentino-South Tyrol, has threatened to quit. Really worried about the well-being of this user. Any calming words and help are greatly appreciated. 21:36, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
Scobell302 Vandal-fighting is starting to take a toll on my emotional health. 04:21, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
DoomsDay349 The MFD debate has got me all worked up, stressed, Elaragirl isn't helping, I feel incredibly, incredibly bad and fear I've lost a lot of respect... I'll still be on, but I'm feeling real low right now. 23:48, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
-The Doctor- I falled behind in school too much and it is soo hard to get back up.. Plus in the next three weeks I am moving.. Everything is just crazy.. I want to hide away from the world and I feel like 1cm tall.. 10:19, 17 November 2006 (CST)
Saxifrage I requested semi-protection of his user page due to extreme anonymous vandalism. After it was semi-protected, I checked his talk page, and discovered that a large group of trolls are harassing him over the deletion of the Genmay article. From his report on WP:AN/I, I can tell that this incident has caused him considerable stress. --J.L.W.S. The Special One 04:47, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply] 14 November 2006
Mgoodyear (talk) This user is a great new contributor who has completely rewritten the brassiere article, more than tripling its length. However, she's under a lot of stress from other users for the changes she's made. She could use a big dose of Esperanza right now. ;) —Lantoka ( talk | contrib) 23:31, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply] 18 November 2006
Sceptre (talk) Real life issues caused him to post the following on his page: "Due to certain people at my school who are viciously bullying me, I've gotten in that depressive mood, which has caused me to remember more depressing thoughts, making me more depressed, and so forth in a vicious circle" -- Where 21:05, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply] 24 November 2006
Kyoko (talk) I debated whether or not to list myself because I show up here way too much. Anyway, I'm returning back to work after my long leave of absence following my suicide attempt, and I'm nervous about what people will say. It doesn't help matters that I don't like the job in the first place. I'm grateful for the income, but I feel as the work is draining my soul. Even so, I'm dependent on this job due to extremely high medical bills. Everything added together is very stressful. 00:13, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
Editor at Large(speak) She allowed me to list her here, because she is under a lot of stress, facing deadlines as well as a number of major decisions in her life (I won't discuss exactly what they are, and you shouldn't either unless if she tells you it's OK). The sum of these stresses is weighing heavily on her. --Kyoko 17:42, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply] 17:42, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
Wizardry Dragon (talk) aka Peter M Dodge Serious events in real life (per userpage notice) have added a lot of stress to his life. He needs some support at this time; he's a wonderful contributor, he deserves as much support as we can give him :-) — Editor at Large(speak) 02:26, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply] 02:26, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
me My life is ruined. I have fai-- *stops* nevermind.. I know Wikipedia enough to know that you can't help me for legal reasons.. ^ Still it would be nice to have someone to talk to. Well I've enjoyed editing, and enjoyed life. Thanks for filling in my Sundays, Wikipedia — Deon555talkdesk 08:20, 11 December 2006 (UTC)[reply] 08:20, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
Hildanknight Some will remember that in September, CheckUser caught me vandalising anonymously due to stress, and I was handed a one-week block for it. Unfortunately, vandalising Wikipedia can be addictive. Since my return, I have been battling this addiction. For some time, everything on Wikipedia went well for me, and I was on the verge of overcoming my addiction. However, things have taken a turn for the worse. While having to deal with anonymous vandals, Instantnood's POV-pushing on Talk:Single-party state and getting insulted on IRC, I'm getting increasingly frustrated as I try to push I Not Stupid to GA status and get Wikipedians to help me clear the RFF backlog. I'm starting to lose the battle against my addiction. I'm afraid I may do something that will earn me a longer block. (If anyone asks, my real life's still in a mess.) --J.L.W.S.
