All over the place

I seem to be running into you all over the place! Thanks for the quick intervention at Stephen Colbert and all the tireless work you do here, and good luck on exams that end the 24th (my birthday!). Cheers! /Blaxthos 21:35, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks...

... for closing that interminable thread on WP:AN/I. Good luck with exams. MastCell 22:41, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions?

Do you have any suggestions as to what can be done about blatant vandals who blank their talk pages to hide their warnings? KatalavenoTC 03:37, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sockpuppetry ... ?

Just FYI, I was referring to policy WP:BLOCK (not "blockquote", seriously). However, is there any reason you don't suspect sockpuppetry going on? I seem to be seeing Telltale Sign Number One of socks, being that as soon as a user is blocked, not one, but two, users come to the blocked's defense, saying, "yeah, the block was in error and let's admit it". What do you think? Yuser31415 07:14, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why me? Why solely me?

In response to your comment about the ongoing 3RR war with that other member. Yes, I understand the frustration and I do want it to end as much as you...but I do NOT see how you can pin the blame SOLELY on me. He is just as much to blame as I am, but you never female-dog him. Only me. I don't find that fair. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by CBFan (talkcontribs) 17:47, 23 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Thanks for putting my edit onto the main page, as soon as I did it I realised what I had done. It showed up that the last edit to the page was from me on my watchlist, but when I tried to revert it in the page history, my edit didn't show up - god damn servers! thanks again RyanPostlethwaiteSee the mess I've created or let's have banter 00:03, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AIV and ParalelUni

I would not call another user "despicable" lightly, and I had a specific reason for saying what I said to a likely sock of that user. Please see Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/St Christopher#ParalelUni_is_uncivil and Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/St Christopher/Evidence. There was a wide consensus in that case that this user's conduct may have been the worst in the history of Wikipedia. Newyorkbrad 02:00, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So because a user acted badly makes it okay for admin to discuss them in an uncivil way particularly when they can't respond? That hardly seems appropriate. Bad form. 67.177.149.119 02:09, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

3RR

Dear Phyicq,

thanks for unblocking me .... it was a very genuine mistake - I assumed that if I were following the guidelines for NPOV then with a { { POV } } tag that the other parties would take it seriously and follow the procedure - I also thought that administrators would not only rebuke those who were removing the { { POV } } tag, but congratulate me (or at worst explain where I was going wrong with the procedure). The last thought on my mind was that I would be reprimanded when I was constantly explaining my actions - and I honestly didn't remember the 3RR (but in retrospect, it does ring a bell ... but not a big one!

Worst still, I now have three reputable articles all of which give credence to a number of experts holding a view that is contrary to that in the article. What do I do? Ignore the fact the article is POV?

But, I can't blame you for doing the right thing in this case - and there must be so many other disputes so I'm not asking for special treatment .... but a genuine thanks! Mike 11:16, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please chime in if you have any thoughts

There's an interesting experience going on over at WikiProject California, and WikiProject Southern California.

Some time ago, WikiProject California members had placed their project tags on all articles about California cities. Those tags have been in place for some time. Recently certain members of WikiProject Southern California, after discussion on that project's talk page (only), decided to remove the WikiProject California tags for (almost all) Southern California cities, and replace the tags with WikiProject Southern California tags - only.

That is, the WikiProject Southern California members didn't simply add the WikiProject Southern California tag to Southern California cities, the WikiProject California tags were completely removed. This was done apparently without consultation with the WikiProject California members.

We are gathering responses to the following questions on those projects' talk pages:

  • Do you have a view whether the WikiProject California tag should be removed from a large number of cities in Southern California?
  • Do you have a view whether city article for Southern California cities should have more than one WikiProject tag?

Please let us know if you have a view! Spamreporter1 16:14, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You seemed uncertain as to why I simply reverted and didn't follow up; I wasn't sure whether to close it or mark for speedy, so I logged on to IRC to get the opinion of others before going ahead with either. ~ PseudoSudo 04:50, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RfA closing templates

Where are they? I wanted to close Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/HyperSonicBoom early (for the same reason you did), but I couldn't find the templates and I was about to head out (enough time to just do a copy/paste of a subst:, but not enough time to hunt down a denied RfA and adapt it).
