The lead does not meet MOS:LEAD and there are sourcing issues. I'm not convinced that news articles from the 1930s are high-quality reliable sources when there are a ton of scholarly sources out there. Article can't be considered well-researched given that it doesn't incorporate the new 2019 scholarly biography by Shirley Jennifer Lim.
