Richard Dean Starr is an American copywriter, editor, and author of fiction and graphic novels whose work has featured characters including Hellboy, Zorro, The Phantom, Kolchak: The Night Stalker, The Avenger, and Wyatt Earp, among others. He is also a former journalist and film critic who has written for both newspapers and magazines. In addition to his fiction and non-fiction he is also a copywriter and authority on small-business marketing. Starr was born in Los Angeles but spent thirteen years in Florida. He recently returned to Los Angeles to pursue a career as a film and television director. To date, he has worked as a Production Coordinator and Co-Producer on three feature films and two short movies. In addition to his motion picture work, he was named Special Projects Coordinator for Moonstone Books in 2007. Starr is currently editing the first anthology of original Zorro short fiction ever authorized by Zorro Productions, Inc. The collection is scheduled for release as both a trade and limited signed edition, illustrated by Douglas Klauba, Ruben Procopio, and Sergio Martinez in April, 2008.
