Song |
"Leavin'" is a song written and produced by Tricky Stewart,The Neptunes and The-Dream[3], and recorded by American singer Jesse McCartney. It is officially confirmed as the lead single from McCartney's third studio album Departure (2008), and it was sent to the U.S. mainstream radios on March 10 2008.[1]
Tommy2 confirmed that the music video for "Leavin'" was shot on February 17 2008 and was directed by Sanji, who also directed his "She's No You" video.[4]
The single was released on iTunes on April 22. The album Departure is set to release on May 20, 2008. The single has since reached number 3 on iTunes Top Songs.
The UK release of the single has been said to be released on June 2nd 2008 according to Jesse's Official UK Site (www.jesse-mccartney.co.uk) followed by his album Departure on June 9th 2008. The UK download has been released via 7digital and the music video is currently receiving heavy airplay on music video channels across the UK.
Music video
The video premiered on March 7th on Yahoo! Music.[5]
Many were shocked at the maturity of the video, sites such as Tommy2.net referred to the video as being "steamier than his [Jesse's] past videos". Others commented on how his younger audience would be lost, as the video is more sexual than his past videos.
No statement has been issued from Disney Channel, after being reported that the video was banned from being played on the channel due to its extreme sexuality. It is unknown if Disney Channel is planning to promote his new album. It has peaked at #1 on the MuchOnDemand Daily Countdown.
The video starts with Jesse and his love interest sitting in chair across from each other. He is wearing white pants and an unbuttoned black shirt; she is wearing a hoodie and underwear. He sings to her, and after a while, she gets up and falls into his lap, resting her head on his shoulder, as he grooms her hair. The next verse starts, and Jesse is only wearing underwear, and his love interest is wearing only a bra and underwear, and occasionally lingerie. He sings to her on a mattress as they roll around on top of each other, frolicking and feeling each other’s bare skin. Jesse is also seen untying the knots on her underwear. As the third verse starts, they continue to feel each other, and at one point simulate sex. During the final chorus, they are shown in a car, both clothed, and the love interest wearing fishnet stockings. They are shown once again rolling around each other on the mattress, and at one point are shown kissing with visible tongue action. They are also shown kissing in the car. During the choruses, Jesse is seen singing in a bluish-white room.
