Sahi is a gotra of the Jatt clan. They are settled in Indian and Pakistani Punjab.

History

The tribe claims descent from Sahi, a Suryavanshi Rajput who went to Ghazni, in Afghanistan. There he is said to have the Sultan Mahmud of Ghazni, who directed him to go and settle by banks of the Ravi river, near Lahore.

The tribe then spread to Gujrat and Sialkot, and in the latter district, they have two septs, Mutan descended from Golai, and Dehry from Asi, the two sons of Bhan, son of Sahi.

Distribution

In Pakistan still found mainly in Gujrat and Sialkot Districts, although few are also found in the Canal Colony districts of Faisalabad and Sahiwal.
