Crin Antonescu [IPA-ro|krin antonesku] (born 21 September, 1959) is a Romanian politician, currently serving as President[1] of the main opposition party in Romania, the National Liberal Party (PNL)[2] , also candidate for the Presidential Elections. He is member of the Senate since 2008, where he was elected for the 2008 Autumn session. Between 1996 and 2008 he was a member of the Chamber of Deputies, where he was the leader of the party's group between 2005 and 2008.

Personal life
Antonescu's first wife Aurelia committed suicide[5] in 2004 due to her illness from cancer. The pair have a daughter, Irina, born in 2001. In June 2009, Antonescu announced[6] he would get married again to party colleague Adina Valean, who had divorced her husband the year before.
