'Cerruti' is a Parisian [[fashion]] house founded in [[1967]] in [[Paris]] by the Italian stylist and fashion producer [[Nino Cerruti]].

In 1967 the Cerruti label was officially launched with the opening of the flagship store, at 3 Place de la Madeleine in [[Paris]], in order to be closer to the international fashion capital. The place is also the headquarters of the firm.

The Cerruti brand is illustrated by 120 years of italian tradition, with the modernity and elegance of a firm, typically parisian.

In August 2006, the company became property of the American firm ''MatlinPatterson Global Advisors''. The CEO is the french ''Florent Perrichon''.

== Italian Heritage ==
In 1881, the grandfather of Nino Cerruti founded the [[textile]] mill ''Lanificio Fratelli Cerruti''. Located in Biella, [[Italy]], the extraordinarily pure water in the region is put to perfect use to wash and treat the [[wool]]. The [[latter]] is imported principally from [[Australia]] and [[South Africa]], so as to develop [[flannel]], [[tweeds]], [[cashmere]], and butter muslin.

Under the guidance of [[Nino Cerruti]], the Piémontaise woolen workshop became a centre of research, producing numerous technical advances to create new threads such as the super 100 (1 kg of wool for 100 km of thread), later on followed by the super 120, 150, 180, up to 210.

To this day, Cerruti fabrics are produced in these very same workshops.

== History and traditions of the brand ==
The Cerruti label was launched in [[1967]] with a luxury menswear collection. A short time later, in 1976, the line 'Cerruti Woman' is created. [[Nino Cerruti]] is conviced that the truly elegance is based upon comfortable clothing. He creates new threads and new technics, checking each step of the production. Before creating his own brand, the young [[Giorgio Armani]] had worked in Paris with Mr Cerruti.
In 1978, the House makes an entry into the world of fine fragrance with ''Nino Cerruti pour Homme'', soon to be followed by ''Cerruti 1881 pour Homme'' in 1990, ''Cerruti Image'' in 1998 and ''l'Essence de Cerruti'' in 2008.

In the 1980's, Cerruti began a collaboration with cinema. From ''Bonnie and Clyde'', ''[[Pretty Woman]]'' to ''[[Basic Instinct]]'', the brand designed clothes for actors such as [[Clint Eastwood]], [[Sharon Stone]], [[Harrison Ford]], [[Al Pacino]] or [[Jean Paul Belmondo]]. Mr. Cerruti had [[cameo appearances]] in the following [[Cinema of the United States|Hollywood]] movies: ''[[Holy Man]]'' (1998), ''Catwalk'' (1996) and ''Cannes Man'' (1996).

In october [[2000]] [[Nino Cerruti]] sold his brand to italian investors and get back to the family business of his grandfather.

The end of [[2009]] marks the arrival of two new creative directors: ''Jesper Borjesson'' for men's collections and ''Richard Nicoll'' for women's.
