Biography

Manheim started Mayhem together with Jørn Stubberud (bass) and Øystein Aarseth (guitar) in 1983. Before Stubberud and Manheim met Aarseth they had played together in a few bands, not really satisfied with the projects. They started to hear the new sounds coming from the continent from bands like Venom, Slayer, Celtic Frost and Sodom and being fans of the heavier bands from the 1970s they started to look for something new - harder and darker - and found it when they met Aarseth who shared the same ambitions, musically and not to forget - for a new, dark and extreme band.

Manheim left the band after the release of the album Deathcrush. Since then he has done little on the official musical scene apart from giving some interviews. His new passion in music is noise, and since 2001 he has collaborated with artists like Russell Haswell, Lasse Marhaug, the Norwegian duo Fe-mail and Maranata. He has also collaborated with the music project Big Robot together with Conrad Schnitzler and feature on the album Horrror Odyssee.
