Looking forward to trying Kissle. Do you have to download it? By the way, congrats on the RfA!--mono (talk) 00:32, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, the link is on the Kissle page. Tim Song (talk) 00:34, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
- Hello. I'm also interested in Kissle. It is a separate application that has the ability to run on Mac OSX 10.6, right? I think this is my first time talking to you, so nice to meet you! One more question: can you edit the articles that you are patrolling? Thanks, Airplaneman talk 05:10, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
- You can edit the article, yes. It runs on Windows, and I don't know if it works on Mac. It's written in C# and requires the .NET Framework (3.5 or better, I think). Tim Song (talk) 05:22, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
- It appears to work in Linux via Mono (at least up to the authentication dialog), so it'll likely work with mono on Mac OS X as well. Also, can I have permission for using Kissle? Thanks. Tuxcantfly (talk) 05:47, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, I'm having some reservations. I don't see much speedy tagging, and you only have 15 deleted edits. Nor do I see many patrolled pages. If you can stick with Twinkle for now, and show that you know what the CSDs are about, I'd be happy to reconsider in a couple of weeks or so. NPP is frequently what the newbies first encounter when they join Wikipedia, and we have to be extra careful here to avoid biting them. Sorry. Tim Song (talk) 05:54, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
- I had actually been intending more to test and fix portability issues on Linux and Mac OS X than for extensive usage (I find it rather alarming that most of the Wikipedia editing tools are Windows-only, and wanted to help rectify that), but I can see your point. Anyhow, good luck on your RfA. Tuxcantfly (talk) 06:40, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
- In that case I'm happy to grant you access. Tim Song (talk) 16:53, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

- Tuxcanfly's comment has allayed my reservations somewhat. Just one last question: can you edit articles while in Kissle, or just tag? If you can edit, I'd like to try it :). Congrats on the RFA! Airplaneman talk 04:05, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, you can edit. Done and thanks! Tim Song (talk) 04:06, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
- Can't wait to try it! Airplaneman talk 04:10, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
- Er... do you know anything about how to make it run in Mono? I extracted Kissle and installed Mono but can't seem to figure out how to use Mono to run Kissle... Airplaneman talk 04:39, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
- Just cd to the extracted directory, and do "mono Kissle.exe". It works fine on the login screen and gets to the main UI, but unfortunately crashes as soon as you visit a page since Mono's implementation of System.Windows.Forms.WebBrowser is incomplete. I'll be working on some Mono patches as soon as I can to implement the missing parts, but even if I finish them they won't be available upstream until the next Mono release. Tuxcantfly (talk) 20:32, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
- Um, no. You might want to check the Mono website? Tim Song (talk) 04:42, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
- Yea, have been checking. Will keep looking! Airplaneman talk 04:45, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
- Alright, I ressurected my old Windows computer to try this out (hey, it only took me 15 minutes to boot up and get here!). I'll try to give some feedback after using it for a bit. Airplaneman talk 17:16, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
- I'll try it when a new version of mono comes. Looks like I need to install .net framework 2.0.0727 or something for it to work. Oh well, Airplaneman talk 17:21, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
- (←) Yes, you need the newest version of the .NET Framework (3.5, I think). Tuxcantfly, if you can give me a list of non-implemented features, I'll check if it is possible to circumvent that. Tim Song (talk) 18:16, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
- Installed NET 3.5 and now Kissle crashes every time I try to run it. I'm trying this on Windows XP. Airplaneman talk 19:44, 19 March 2010 (UTC)
- Can you post the exception info? Tim Song (talk) 19:47, 19 March 2010 (UTC)
- It's the generic "This program had a problem and had to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience". I think it's my computer - Huggle has the same issue. I guess I'm waiting until the next release of mono :) Airplaneman talk 23:16, 19 March 2010 (UTC)

- Query. I'm interested in having a function that finds and fixes typos. What would you suggest? Many thanks. Oh -- one more thing ... is there any function that I can use to apply fixes of any type (dashes, typos, etc) to all the articles on my watchlist? Without me opening each up individually? Tx again.--Epeefleche (talk) 23:01, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
- That's basically AWB's regextypofix. Second, automatically applying fixes without looking at the individual articles is governed by the bot policy, and I'm not sure about dashes, but typo-fixing bots are not allowed b/c of the high rate of false positives. - Sorry, but I don't see much experience with CSDs. T. Canens (talk) 03:56, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
- I thought this was for New Page Patrolling? I've tagged a few articles with the {{db}} template (using a case-specific) template. I didn't know CSDs were a requirement. —Ғяіᴆaз'§Đøøм • Champagne? • 6:25pm • 08:25, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
- And CSDs are one of the more important - and more difficult to master - components of NPP. Automated tools (Kissle, Huggle, AWB etc.) are best at doing repetitive tasks on many pages rather than extensive revisions on a few; for Kissle, that means CSD/PROD/AFD/Tag/Pass, and CSD is the hardest (some might say trickiest) of those. T. Canens (talk) 08:35, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
- I do have a firm understanding of policy, I have had correctly identified articles which meet the CSD. I've had no complaints about my CSD tagging, while I understand it's your tool and you are free to grant/revoke access I've at least tagged 10 articles correctly and I'm particularly experienced in dealing with copyright violations.
- My contributions to WPAFC have been limited, in my earlier days I was subject to much scrutiny and it took me a while to learn from those mistakes. What I'm trying to get at is I learn from my mistakes and I'm not a slow learner. CSD isn't a strength or weakness of mine and I believe I have the capability of contributing positively as do other editors. —Ғяіᴆaз'§Đøøм • Champagne? • 6:42pm • 08:42, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
- I see 8 deleted edits in article space in 2010; three of which arose from AfC cleanup, two more dealt with a prod to the same article, and one simply wikified an article that was subsequently deleted. So that's exactly 2 CSDs in article space in the past 9 months. And in one of those two edits, you tagged Fyad as {{db-blank}} because the redirect on that page was broken - due to IP vandalism, when it would have been much more preferable to simply revert the IP edit. So, no, I have serious reservations about your CSD experience. You are welcome to come back and try again after, say, a couple dozen CSDs in article space. T. Canens (talk) 08:37, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
- In regards to my AfC work, I've gained confidence after to whole kerfuffle in late June. The target of the redirect shows no relevance, it was probably a hoax since the target page doesn't not mention Fyad anywhere. The CSD wasn't all inappropriate. —Ғяіᴆaз'§Đøøм • Champagne? • 11:09am • 01:09, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
