Ever since the most recent Huggle update, I've been told to download the new update every time I open Huggle. Hi there, I had to remove a nonexisting Huggle (2.1.18) warning template from a user talk page. See [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:User1344&oldid=456654848]. Cheers - [[User:DVdm|DVdm]] ([[User talk:DVdm|talk]]) 12:18, 21 October 2011 (UTC) |

Enabling huggle for another project
If you want to get huggle enabled for another project please do the following:
- Ensure that huggle can be used on this project (it should be a mediawiki project which has the api enabled - no rollback is required for huggle)
- Consider this with developers of huggle
- Ask some sysop of that wiki who is capable to speak in english for assistance
- Translate huggle to your language
- Wait for developers to set up the huggle for that project

Vandals who have been reported to WP:UAA not receiving additional warnings
The already reported mechanism should be changed to allow additional warnings to go through when a user has been reported to WP:UAA but has not been reported to WP:AIV. Reports to AIV often receive prompter attention, and so when a vandal is reported to UAA and stops receiving additional warnings, it significantly complicates getting them properly warned for an AIV report. Block notice timestamp bug
I issued a block notice via Huggle on September 26, 2011, but the timestamp on the notice was June 5, 2011. Odd little bug.--Kubigula (talk) 02:54, 27 September 2011 (UTC)

Unknown Error
Huggle was working fine for me earlier today, tonight it is starting up but it is not displaying pages correctly and in the status bar at the bottom is keeps reading such "cannot retrieve" followed by the address for the last revision. At the end of the line it says "Unknown Error". Trusilver 07:16, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
- This occurred with my sesions tonight and last night as well. Tiderolls 00:21, 6 October 2011 (UTC)
- Does it display pages wrong in 2.1.18? Anyway the other problems will be fixed, those should not affect usage of HG very much, may be temporary due to cluster load Petrb (talk) 06:12, 6 October 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, it's still displaying the error in the new version, but today it is more sporadic. Last night Huggle was completely unusable, tonight I can go a half hour without seeing the error and then get the next half hour of it popping up every time I hit the space bar. Trusilver 07:11, 6 October 2011 (UTC)
- Both myself and User:Wikipelli were discussing this issue yesterday and I am still having it this morning. Oddly, it seems to show up most often on the obvious vandalism edits, making reverting them rather frustrating. Calabe1992 (talk) 15:04, 7 October 2011 (UTC)

- I also note a message on my watchlist page that the Wikimedia software was "updated" on Oct 5. Maybe there's some correlation. Tiderolls 23:09, 7 October 2011 (UTC)
- I've also noticed that sometimes the problem starts happening immediately after starting Huggle. Sometimes I can get five or ten minutes before the errors start, and sometimes I can go indefinitely without an error. 90% of the time, I will start getting errors within 10 minutes of starting the program. Trusilver 01:49, 8 October 2011 (UTC)
- Yep, it's happening with 2.1.17 and 2.1.18 for me. Makes Huggle pretty much unusable at the moment. --Deadly∀ssassin 13:33, 8 October 2011 (UTC)
- Problem appears to have resolved. I still get it occasionally, but only once or twice an hour now as opposed to so much that it was making Huggle unusable. Trusilver 02:04, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
Whitelist question
Since the whitelist has been moved off wiki, I'm curious if there's a mechanism to phase out older entries, or perhaps periodically purge the whitelist. For whatever reason, many whitelist entries, particularly of IPs, in the past were users that were either blocked or otherwise problematic that found their way on the whitelist simply because people ignored their edits. In the past, I, and others would periodically purge the list of either IPs or altogether. But offwiki this seems to be impossible. So I wondered if there was some mechanism in place to, at the least, expire out outdated white listings. Shadowjams (talk) 06:24, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
- My my, it's been so long since I've used huggle (switched to Ubuntu) that I didn't even notice this ... as another person who would periodically do this, I second this request (and since it appears to be on the toolserver, I would even suggest doing this automatically every so often). Calvin 1998 (t·c) 07:12, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
- There is possibility to change whitelist (in huggle - open user and there is option ignore / unignore) but how could one detect if record is outdated? Petrb (talk) 07:19, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
- There really isn't; the previous rationale was simply that bad records kept accumulating (people on the whitelist that shouldn't have been), so we blanked it occasionally, to let it refresh itself. The practice may actually have sprung from the associated occasional cleaning out of the user list, now that I think of it.... Calvin 1998 (t·c) 08:58, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
- There is possibility to change whitelist (in huggle - open user and there is option ignore / unignore) but how could one detect if record is outdated? Petrb (talk) 07:19, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
- Cleaning user list or whitelist is a bad idea, what it would be for then? But if you want to make some interface just open readme to see how script works, it's editeable anyway posting wl.php?data=&wp=en&action=edit can blank it. Petrb (talk) 09:18, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
- I didn't investigate too deeply, I guess if it's open then that's fine. I might even implement an aging script that the project can adopt if it wants. But just to clarify, clearing the whitelist is a good idea because it tends to get polluted with people that need to be watched, while at the same time, the people that don't need to be watched are readded to it so quickly that their temporary removal is inconsequential. I'm glad that Calvin has had the same experience I have in this regards. If you doubt this then I can do a quick audit of the current whitelist and I bet we'll find some problem editors on there. The whitelist is enormously valuable, but if it has bad editors on there it risks doing more harm than good. Shadowjams (talk) 21:30, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
- Reason why it moved was because it did a lot of troubles, not to prevent people from being able to edit it, as I said, the current script allows people to change it, so feel free to do that Petrb (talk) 06:35, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

Problem watching pages
Since MediaWiki was updated to 1.18wmf1, there have been no pages added to watchlist, even if all options are marked. What happened? Francisco talk-contribs 00:11, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
- Other problem since MediaWiki update: in block form, the option "Block editing of user talk page by user" has produced the contrary effect: instead of blocking editing user talk page, it has allowed editing it. When this option is cleared, editing talking page has been blocked. Francisco talk-contribs 00:27, 13 October 2011 (UTC)

Screened edits via ClueBot NG
My current understanding is that Huggle processes the IRC recent changes feed, then applies white list and warnings issued etc. to create the list. My proposal is to have a separate IRC feed created by User:ClueBot NG that removes vandalism reverted by ClueBot and ranks the RC by ClueBot's AI on how likely it is vandalism. I feel the time lag from ClueBot would more be made up by no user ever loading a page to see it get reverted by the bot. I realize that we may not wish to publish ClueBot scores in an IRC channel, in that case an IRC feed that just takes out the bot reverts would be fine. Thoughts? Crazynas t 01:44, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
- Good idea but it's not that simple, anyway we can discuss this (if Cobi has no problem with cooperation and has time for this), also keep in mind that it would slow down huggle a lot Petrb (talk) 06:13, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
- The amount of times I've hit revert only for it to be stopped because CBNG reverted first ^_^ Anyway, if you want a IRC feed of what CBNG is doing, then you can find that on #cluebotng-spam on ClueNet - Rich(MTCD)T|C|E-Mail 00:54, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
- I'd agree, it would make Huggle users more efficient if we were able to filter out ClueBot edits. --Deadly∀ssassin 03:33, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

Norton Internet Security
Norton's SONAR protection doesn't like version 2.1.18. It immediately blocks and quarantines the file complaining of suspicious activity. Nasnema Chat 12:11, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
- at the moment I can't trust Huggle at all, because version 17 is doing crazy updates and version 18 isn't liked by Norton. Nasnema Chat 11:34, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
- Many Wikipedians use and trust Huggle. I'm not sure what you mean by "crazy updates" but Huggle always checks for new updates upon launch and offers to update if it isn't the latest version. Since 17 is not the latest version, it will always ask to update. Orange Suede Sofa (talk) 20:28, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
- Hmmm... It probably has to do with Huggle contacting an IRC feed for recent changes. You may be able to add Huggle to the exclusions list. Information about that can be found here . Hope this helps.~ Matthewrbowker Say hi! 18:48, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
- I have no clue why it happens, maybe you could report it as false alarm to symantec? Huggle isn't changing content of hd other than own cache files. So it's very unlike it damage anything on your hd Petrb (talk) 19:24, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

Huggle posting wrong warnings
I've noticed this a few times as of late - Huggle is posting wrong warnings when reverting. Here I reverted an addition of unsourced content, but Huggle warned the user for removing content. Not a great thing to have happen when warning newcomers. Calabe1992 (talk) 15:56, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

- I didn't investigate too deeply, I guess if it's open then that's fine. I might even implement an aging script that the project can adopt if it wants.

Bug report
Using huggle in WINE, I get the following error:

Are there any solution statements? Best regards, ----Nirakka en de 15:29, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
- Fixing now, someone probably messed the config Petrb (talk) 16:47, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
- OK, I just duplicated the circumstances with my alt account and the warning it posted was now correct. Thanks. Calabe1992 (talk) 18:21, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
- We messed up in which templates it referred to. See this fix. If there are any new problems with the specific level 1 warnings, feel free to drop me a talk page message directly too. Steven Walling (WMF) • talk 21:26, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

Updates
Ever since the most recent Huggle update, I've been told to download the new update every time I open Huggle. I don't know if I'm being thick or if there's a problem with Huggle - is there a way that I won't have to download the new update every time I open Huggle? Thanks. ItsZippy (talk • contributions) 20:44, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
- Do you have a desktop shortcut? Cause that's what happened to me, once I deleted the other versions I had in the Huggle folder and changed the shortcut it worked fine. Crazynas t 20:56, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
Template uw-unsor-rand/new not found
Hi there, I had to remove a nonexisting Huggle (2.1.18) warning template from a user talk page. See [4]. Cheers - DVdm (talk) 12:18, 21 October 2011 (UTC)
