• Helmut Damerius, after an unprecedented three reviews, finally appeared on December 23, 2011, the first of three days when the traffic logs were malfunctioning. And a first (for me): Ernst Ottwalt never even got his day in the sun. The article was rejected (by default), meaning it failed to get any review at all and so never reached the main page.

DYK ripple effect

The appearance of Hanna Bergas on DYK garnered 6,800 hits for Kindertransport, which was mentioned in the hook. The appearance of Julia Voss on DYK garnered Jim Button and Luke the Engine Driver, which I substantially edited, 2,700 hits on August 4, 2011. In addition, I nominated William J. Toye so that Clementine Hunter, whose art he forged, could get on DYK. They appeared on June 23, 2011, gaining 1,600 and 1,400 hits respectively.
