Metal Slug 6 (J:メタルスラッグ6) is a run and gun video game for the Sammy Atomiswave arcade platform. It was released in 2006 and is the sixth and latest game in the Metal Slug series.

The game takes place during the Rebel-Martian alliance of Metal Slug 2, Metal Slug X, and Metal Slug 3. A new hostile alien race is introduced, a breed of parasite-like creatures that feed on Martians and take over humans. These creatures serve as the opposing force.

All the original Metal Slug characters - Marco, Tarma, Fio, and Eri - return, joined by Ralf Jones and Clark Steel of The King of Fighters and Ikari Warriors fame.

New Features

There's an easy mode, which consists of four levels only, and has the player start with the heavy machine gun.

Every character can now carry up to two weapons at a time. The player is able to switch between these using the newly introduced E button, while not inside a vehicle.

New as well is the D button, which itself has no effect. In combination with the A button though, it makes the character perform a special attack. Furthermore, if D and C are pressed simultaneously, the character tosses his weapon. As in any other episode of Metal Slug, the A button is still for shooting, B is for jumping and C is for throwing grenades.

The score is now multiplied by powers of 2. The faster the speed at which enemies are killed, the higher the power, as a meter at the bottom of the screen shows.

Each character have its own special ability:

  • Marco: Default weapon's power is doubled.
  • Fio: Initially start out with heavy machine gun (beginner mode will have super heavy machine gun). Ammunition & supply increased by 50%.
  • Eri: Grenade supply and refill are doubled. Tossing direction of grenade can be directed using the joystick.
  • Tarma: All his special ability is activated only on a slug. Durability and ammuniton are doubled. Vulcan attack strength is increased by 50%. Direction of vulcan can be fixed, and be fired automatically.
  • Ralf: Melee specialist: Normal melee speed is doubled. Special melee can damage vehicles. Ammunition and supply are reduced by 50%. Can survive first shots (so basically have two life bar for character)
  • Clark: Special melee is super argentina backbreaker; Score is multiplied with every throw.
