"American Girl" is the new single by American pop music singer and songwriter Bonnie McKee, released as the first single from her upcoming second studio album, to be released in September.[needs update] A viral video featuring cameo appearances by Katy Perry, Kesha, Kiss, Carly Rae Jepsen and many other artists and celebrities was released on June 26, 2013.

Background

The song was the first single released by McKee in 9 years since the 2004 single "Somebody". It is also her first material written by Michael Perry of Livermore, CA.She found the song by his uncle in San Francisco; previously, she was signed by Reprise Records.
