The Invasion is the fifth studio album by Nigerian recording artists P-Square, released on July 29, 2011 by Square Records.[1] It sold over 1 million copies in the first four days of its release.[2] The album features guest appearances by Tiwa Savage,[3] Naeto C,[4] Waje,[5] May D,[6] Eva Alordiah,[7] Muna,[7] Akon,[8] and Rick Ross.[9] The album produced three singles—"[Beautiful Onyinye (song)|Beautiful Onyinye]]", "Chop My Money", and "Forever". According to Steez, the album was number 1 on the 11 best selling Nigerian albums of 2011 chart.[10]

Promotion

To promote and celebrate the release of their fifth studio album, the duo put together a concert dubbed "The Invasion Concert". The concert was held at the Expo Hall of Eko Hotel in Lagos, Nigeria on July 30, 2011, and featured performances by the duo, May D, Lynxxx, Eva Alordiah, Muna, 9ice, Ikechuwku, and Bovi.[11][12]

Others praised the album for its lyrical content, sound, composure, and depth. The album was reviewed by Mix Rhythm, 360nobs, Leadership Nigeria, and Naijaura, four popular Nigerian entertainment sources. The latter assigned a score of 8.5 out of 10 while the former gave the album a 3.5 out of 5 adding that the album "was well packaged in terms of graphics, nice photo shots, lyrics and a captivating album art cover". 360nobs gave the albums' Versatility: 4 out of 10, Creativity: 5 out of 10, Lyrics: 6 out of 10, Delivery: 6 out of 10, Rhythm: 8 out of 10, Originality: 5 out of 10, Production: 8 out of 10, Skip Factor: 5 out of 10, and an overall score of 6.1 out of 10 while adding that "the invasion is not yet complete". Leadership Nigeria gave a rating of 9 out of 10.
