kNERO Lapaé (born Daniel Boimah Kenney Edwards II on May 19, 1981), better known by his stage name kNERO Lapaé (pronounce knee-ro), is a Liberian-born rapper, recording artist, record producer, song writer and the founder and CEO of the popular website Get Wit It Magazine.[1][2]

Personal life and family members

Born in Monrovia, Liberia, a descendants of King N'jola. kNERO was raised in Brooklyn, New York. He does not come from an Americo-Liberian descent. His father is Gola and mother is K'pelle. He is one of four children of Sara Léla and Rev. D. Boimah Edwards, who was the youngest Liberian to managed an American corporation in Liberia, which led them to America. He is now the President of a non-profit called "The Bomi County Association".[3] kNERO was brought up in a predominant political background. Nephew of Ellen Johnson Sirleaf,[4] Uncle was a judge of the Magistrate Court, a District Commissioner and County Development Coordinator for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and first cousin Richard B. Devine,[5] former Senator of Liberia.[6] They were fortunate enough to escape the Liberian Civil War by his father's achievements but still suffered by the loss of family and friends. He claims in his lyrics in 1990, at the age of 9, he has been announced to be the first Liberian rapper in America.[citation needed] Throughout his teens, he attended numerous high schools due to his father's career opportunity which transferred them through the tri-state area, including Philadelphia.

Music career

kNERO has release a single “Not Drunk Enuff”[7] featuring Norwegian singer Adele Erichsen,[8] who was a contestant on The Voice – Norges beste stemme. The single was released under CCAP records.[9] Due to his political ties he celebrated for the 164th Liberian Declaration of Independence[10] performing his single A.F.R.I.CA, at the Liberian Embassy in Washington, D.C.

Sharing stage as an opening act in 2006 with artists such as MC Lyte, Kool and the Gang, Dana Dane and Slick Rick for the Hip Hop of Pioneers performance at the Newark Symphony Hall.[11]

Between 2006 and 2007 he then performed at the fabulous Fox Theatre (Atlanta, Georgia),[12] for Dr. Malachi Z. York 11th Annual Nuwaupu Ball. Name being announced with, Erykah Badu, Jimmy Cliff and Musiq Soulchild. Edwards released his single "My Thang" featuring actor/ rapper Jamal "Gravy" Woolard and former Roc-A-Fella artist Amil[13] which appeared on a fictitious urban blog sites.

In 2014 according to Thatsenuff.com,[14] kNERO closed a deal to release his next single "King" on Universal Music Group.

According to kNERO, to name artists such as Tupac Shakur, Jay Z, The Notorious B.I.G, Nas, Phil Collins, Sade Adu, Bob Dylan, Wu-Tang Clan, Rakim, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, KRS-One, Kool G Rap, Tracy Chapman, Bob Marley and more were among the artists that he listened to while growing up.
