Stereo Kicks are an 8-piece boy band that consists of Barclay Beales, Chris Leonard, Tom Mann, James Graham, Reece Bibby, Jake Sims, Casey Johnson and Charlie Jones. They were formed in series 11 of The X Factor UK.[1]

2014: Formation and The X Factor

All of them originally auditioned as soloists for series 11 of The X Factor UK. They were all rejected at the bootcamp stage.[1] They were formed by the judges because they felt they were too good to let them go.[2]

They first sang together at bootcamp within hours of being put together as a group; they performed Leona Lewis' cover of "Run"; they got through straight to the judges' houses stage.[2] At that stage they sang Justin Timberlake's "Mirrors" and later got sent to the live shows.[3] The fans suggested names through the ITV website; they received over 46,000 entries.[4][5] Stereo Kicks' reception has been very favourable with Simon Cowell himself saying: "one of the best [groups] ever [to feature on the show]", also they've been compared to be "as good as One Direction" by the public,[6] and their performance of "Run" reached 1 million views on The X Factor's YouTube channel after a week of its upload on 28 September.[7]

They performed Katy Perry's "Roar" in the first week of the live shows.[8]

Barclay Beales

Barclay Beales (age 18) is from Devon.[1] He auditioned for the tenth series of The X Factor UK and got eliminated in the Bootcamp stage by Louis Walsh.[9] He used to yodelled.[10] He came back for series 11. He performed Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game" in his Room Audition and Robbie Williams's "Angels" at the Arena.[11]

Chris Leonard

Chris Leonard (age 18) is from Meath, Ireland.[1] He also auditioned for the tenth series of The X Factor UK and got eliminated in the Bootcamp stage by Gary Barlow, but as part of the boyband "5th Base"; because they forgot their lyrics.[12] He came back for series 11, but as a soloist. Non of his auditions were broadcasted.[13]

Tom Mann

Tom Mann (age 20) is from Southampton.[1] He also auditioned for the tenth series of The X Factor UK and got eliminated in the Bootcamp stage by Louis Walsh.[9] He came back for series 11. Reece Bibby

Reece Bibby (age 15) is from Lancashire.[1] He auditioned at the Room with an acoustic rendition of Disclosure's "Latch" and wowed the judges.[18]

Jake Sims

Jake Sims (age 19) is from Bristol.[1] He sang Stevie Wonder's "Superstitious" in his Room Audition, with his little sister present,[19] and Arctic Monkeys' "When the Sun Goes Down" at the Arena.[20]

Casey Johnson

Casey Johnson (age 19) is from London.[1] He performed Olly Murs' "Please Don't Let Me Go" in his Room Audition.[21]

Charlie Jones

Charlie Jones (age 14) is from Kent.[1] He sang One Direction's "Little Things" in his Room Audition,[22] and Spice Girls' "Wannabe" at the Arena, stuning the judges and the audience.[23] He's also well-known for his viral song on YouTube "Belieber For Life".[24]
