Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Aaron Walton
:Google cache of the article is here.

It seems this article was deleted on a personal basis more than a factual one and I ask that this be restored. Aaron Walton is not a "superstar" right at this moment, but he is a signed national recording artist. Please restore this article. See below.

"and a nice picture to boot -- kind of makes the article look more serious, but it really isn't. -- Captain Disdain 02:24, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
Speedy delete because, more than any other reason, it irks me when people use "circa" to mean "some time during". He clearly knows it was in 2006 that the photo was taken, not around 2006. JDoorjam Talk 04:14, 4 July 2006 (UTC)"

Those type of comments are clearly more opinion and personal feeling than fact and rude "to boot".Alw4416

*Endorse Deletion Nothing above changes the fact that this entry fails WP:MUSIC by parsecs. "Signed" to a record company he formed means nothing. No actual releases, yet. No widespread attention, yet. Most of what google returns is a man of the same name who is considerably older. Fan-1967 17:02, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
*Comment Alright, I apologize for letting slip my pet peeve about the use of "circa". That, I promise, had nothing to do with why I deleted the article. The article did not get past WP:MUSIC, plain and simple. JDoorj<font color="green">a</font>m Talk 17:09, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

*Undelete This artist is not just signed to a record company "he formed". This artist is also signed to Rainy Day Records which is very notable and has lots of platinum selling artists on their roster. As well, there are a lot of famous acts on indie labels they started. This artist does have an "actual release" entitled Aaron L. Walton that has national distribution. I really wish people would have their facts in a row before simply speculating.Alw4416 17:14, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
:*Comment A google search for "Aaron L. Walton" returns a grand total of 25 unique hits, most of them self-authored or myspace pages. It does not appear that the release has received much notice from anyone. Fan-1967 17:44, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
:*CommentThis is not a debate about how famous this artist is. The bottom line is this entry does fall under WP:MUSIC by meeting the following requirement, "Has been the subject of a half hour or longer broadcast on a national radio network." as well as "Has released two or more albums on a major label or one of the more important indie labels (i.e. an independent label with a history of more than a few years and a roster of performers, many of which are notable)." "Plain and simple". Stop making this about your personal opinions.Alw4416 18:14, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
::*It is absolutely a debate about how famous the artist is. Did you even read WP:MUSIC?. A local community-supported radio station interviewing a local musician does not remotely qualify as a "national radio network." And there aren't two or more albums. So you haven't remotely met the criteria. Fan-1967 18:19, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
::*Who makes the final decision here? Yes it is a "national radio network". Where do you get your information? Yes there are two albums as well. It's no wonder your profile is locked due to vandalism. Your taste in music or lack thereof do not deter the facts. For you to do a few google searches does not make your info righteous.Alw4416
:::*What's the second album, as you have ony listed one so far? When was it released? As for the "national radio network", whether KKFI is affiliated with a network is irrelevant. Was the interview broadcast nationally, and can you verify it? And may I suggest that rudeness doesn't help. The final decision is made by a consensus of editors. Fan-1967 18:35, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
:::*Sorry but I feel you are being rude. The second album was titled "Forgiven" released 2002. Yes the interview was accessible nationally as well as being broadcast online via internet radio. Alw4416
::::*I'm sorry if you feel I'm being rude. The simple fact is that I don't see you've remotely made your case, and we get tons of aspiring musicians trying to promote themselves with Wikipedia articles. There's a huge difference between "accessible" nationally and broadcast nationally. Which was it? Was it broadcast on other stations in other cities? As for "Forgiven", what label was it released on? I can't seem to find any record of it. Fan-1967 18:43, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
::::*Forgiven was under Vision 7 Records. As long as a broadcast can be heard nationally should qualify. I don't read and specific stipulations in WP:MUSIC. Once again I feel you are just stating these arguments to do just that, argue. This is not an "aspiring" artist and do not appreciate once again that, insinuation. This article is not intended to promote this artist but serve as an information resource.Alw4416 18:51, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
:::::*Vision 7 is not an "important indie label" so you do not have "two or more albums on a major label or one of the more important indie labels". All the promotion for "Aaron L <s>Walters</s> Walton", including your own myspace page and website, refer to it as a "debut album". And no, a small KC station that has a web feed (all stations do, these days) does not qualify as a "national radio network". I see no point in continuing to participate in this discussion. Other editors will, I'm sure express their opinions. Fan-1967 19:03, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
::::::*Once again that is your opinion on Vision 7 Records and not based on fact. Debut meaning released on these labels combined, and yes it was "nationally broadcast". The artists name is Aaron Walton, not Aaron Walter. Alw4416
*<s>Undelete</s> Aaron Walton was interviewed recently on 90.1 KKFI radio in Kansas City on a half hour "artist spotlight session". Three of his songs were aired on that broadcast.Alw4416 17:20, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
**More interesting: a google search on your username shows up a yahoo profile for Aaron <s>Walter</s>Walton. So why you you keep talking about "this artist"? - Motor (talk) 22:55, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
:* Ever heard of a fan supporting an artist? The artists name is Aaron Walton not Walter. Your tongue in cheek is lame. 65.30.66.196
::*I made a typo. Just to be clear, Aaron Walton has a yahoo profile with the user name alw4416 - the same as your user name here. - Motor (talk) 08:40, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
::*Comment So he's saying the wrong name. Still, the username here and at Yahoo! are the same, and the name given at Yahoo! is "Aaron Walton". Ryulong 05:36, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

*Undelete Aaron Walton is a signed recording artist with two releases. Vision 7 Records and Rainy Day Records are partnered in this self titled release. Rainy Day Records artists have included the independent releases of Rick Springfield among others. :::* I would be happy to. The artist meets this guidline, "Has released two or more albums on a major label or one of the more important indie labels (i.e. an independent label with a history of more than a few years and a roster of performers, many of which are notable)."65.30.66.196
::::* Is there any more information on this album or albums you claim he has released? Ryulong 01:29, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
::::* That question deserves no response and you are clearly not doing your research or reading. The prejudice of this site is verging laughable! Have you ever heard of Daniel Jones? Probably not, but that doesn't mean he hasn't written 3 platinum selling albums for the band Savage Garden. Did you not read "Aaron Walton is a signed recording artist with two releases. :::::* Vision 7 Records and Rainy Day Records are not notable enough to have mentions on Wikipedia. They are also only apparently linked to the "Aaron Walton" that this deletion review is about, and is also linked to the person who wants the article to be undeleted. His eponymous album is also only linked to personal pages for the musician posted on Myspace and "Music Freedom" which appears to be a music oriented Myspace (the script for music playing on the profile page even looks the same). Just because a parent recording company is famous doesn't mean any artists recorded under subsidiaries are notable. I stand by my endorsement of deletion by means of WP:Music and that the article was speedy deleted (or fit under) for db-bio reasons. Ryulong 01:44, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

*Endorse deletion: Get a distribution deal, man. Making a CD on your computer is easy. Getting a duplicator isn't expensive. Getting an LLC is easy. Getting distribution is hard. Get some press clippings from national press, not home town press. That means reserving about 500 of your first pressing as promo copies. Get tracking reports from all the stations you send copies to (another 300-500 copies). When you have airplay on 200 or more stations, send out a second wave of promo copies to magazines. Then have someone who doesn't know you and you've never met write an article. Until then, remember: Anyone who thinks that Wikipedia is a good avenue for advertising is already failing at business, music, or art. Revision as of 04:01, 15 July 2006

4 July 2006

Englewood Schools

Several Colorado school districts, including Englewood Schools, were deleted as a result of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Englewood Schools. These were originally lists of schools, but during the course of the discussion further information about the school district (including the city name, name of superintendent, name of school board president, URL of school board) was added to most of the articles, thereby making them respectable stubs. School districts, as political entities, are usually considered notable. I don't think the other participants all recognized that the articles were no longer just lists of external links. The name of the school districts also added confusion: Englewood Schools sounds like a list of schools, rather than an article about a school district. I am therefore requesting a review of these deletions. TruthbringerToronto (Talk | contribs) 06:42, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
