Surbhi Jyoti (born 29 May 1988[2]) is an Indian actress, model, dancer and radio and television presenter, popular in Punjabi cinema. She is well-known for her role in the Zee TV series Qubool Hai.[3][4]

Early life

Jyoti, eldest of two children, was born on May 29, 1988 into a Punjabi Brahmin family hailing from Jalandhar. Her father runs a rubber chemical business and her mother is a home-maker. She completed her schooling from Shiv Jyoti Public School, Jalandhar and graduation from HMP (Hansraj Morarji Public College Jalandhar). Later, she did her Master of Arts in English from Apeejay College of Fine Arts. Currently, she is residing in Mumbai with her cousin.

Career

Surbhi was initially a radio jockey and hosted several Punjabi-language shows. She is a veteran of Punjabi theatre and is also a successful debater, with three national debate competition titles to her name. After making a number of appearances in Punjabi films, music videos and soap operas, she was selected to play the co-lead character in her debut Hindi TV series Qubool Hai on Zee TV.
