At 8 years old, he constructed a weight bench out of a 2x4 or 2x12[2] on cement blocks and made a barbell out of milk jugs filled with sand hung on a stick. Matt weighed 118 pounds as a high school freshman. After finishing high school, Kroc entered a powerlifting contest while in the Marines.[3]

In 2002 Kroc graduated from college and bought a home, prior to the 2002 USAPL Nationals. Kroc later went to London, Ohio to train at a compound with Dave Tate and Jim Wendler.[4] Kroc also trained with Mountain Dog John Meadows,[5] Branch Warren[6]and Johnnie O. Jackson.[7]

Personal life

Kroc is a parent of three boys and resides in the Ann Arbor area.[citation needed]

In July[20] 2015 Kroczaleski came out as a transgender (specifically genderfluid) male and girl, choosing the name Janae Marie Kroc to replace the former name, Matthew Raymond Kroczaleski.[21] Janae identifies simultaneously as an "Alpha male" and "girly girl",[22] self-describing as "both hyper-masculine and hyper-feminine".[23] Janae claims to be living life in both genders and to have made no physical changes.[24]

After expressing concern over backlash,[24] supportive messages were received from Bodybuilding.com writer[25] Marc Lobliner,[26] Brian Shaw and Shawn Ray.[27]
