Shaandaar (English: Fabulous/Grand) is an upcoming Indian romantic comedy film, directed by Vikas Bahl and produced by Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane. It stars Alia Bhatt and Shahid Kapoor in lead roles, with Pankaj Kapur and Sanjay Kapoor in supporting roles.[1] The Times of India described Shaandar as "India's first destination wedding film". The Principal photography began in August 2014 in Leeds,[2] and the film is scheduled for release on 22 October 2015 and coinciding with Dussehra.[3]

On 5 August 2015, a teaser poster was released, featuring the lead actors sitting on a bench. The trailer of the film was released on 11 August 2015 by Dharma Productions featuring Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.

Critical Reception

Firstpost reviewed the movie as "Alia Bhatt, Shahid Kapoor look great, but this film is far from fabulous". [7] Movie critic of Indian Express gave 1.5 star and described the movie as "There is no ‘Shaan’ in this Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt starrer". [8] NDTV gave 3 stars to the movie and stated "It brings together two different worlds and succeeds in striking a balance between the two. For that, and for much else, Shaandaar deserves hearty ovation." [9]

The music and background score for the film is composed by Amit Trivedi[12] The first song titled, "Gulaabo" was released on 10 September 2015,[13] followed by "Shaam Shaandaar" which was released on 16 September 2015. The music rights for the film have been acquired by Zee Music Company. The full audio album was released on 24 September 2015.[14][15]
