Revision as of 19:09, 10 November 2017
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

- To list a technical request: Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.
Uncontroversial technical requests
- Draft:Banzo is invalid. Must create Draft:Banzo before requesting that it be moved to Banzo.– Move article to mainspace. Siggehalla (talk) 12:34, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose, and someone help the author out maybe? This micro-stub would be quickly deleted as failing to assert much less demonstrate any claim to notability, and it has no sources at all. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ >ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ< 18:35, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
- Nick Jr India (currently a redirect to Nick Jr. (Indian TV channel)) → Nick Jr. (India) (currently a redirect instead to Nick Jr. (Indian TV channel)) (move · discuss) – All the other regional Nick Jr. channels have their article names as "Nick Jr. (country)" so requesting move to maintain consistency. - Should be discussed. This may raise a MOS:ENGVAR matter (but might not, if the branding is consistently with the

, despite the tendency of Commonwealth, including Indian, English to drop it). The usual abbreviation of "Junior" in Commonwealth English is Jnr, so Jr[.] is an Americanism anyway, so this might be an okay move idea. Basically, this will need some research. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ >ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ< 18:35, 10 November 2017 (UTC)

- List of programmes broadcast by Cartoon Network (India) → List of programs broadcast by Cartoon Network (India) (currently a redirect back to List of programmes broadcast by Cartoon Network (India)) (move · discuss) – To maintain consistency with other program lists. - Oppose per MOS:ENGVAR. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ >ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ< 18:35, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
- Central Plaza (Hong Kong) → Central Plaza (move · discuss) – WP:PRECISION; pointless disambiguation Citobun (talk) 13:59, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose. The content at Central Plaza (disambiguation) makes it a highly questionable idea that the one in Hong Kong is the WP:PRIMARY topic. Central Plaza should almost certainly redirect to the DAB page. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ >ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ< 18:35, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
- Great smog of Delhi (currently a redirect to Air pollution in Delhi) → Great smog of Delhi (2017) (move · discuss) – The edit history shows that the original article was for the event in 2016, but since has been rewritten for the 2017 event. Lunaroyster (talk) 16:00, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
- Should be discussed. Isn't that a completely artificial distinction? Smogs don't know what year it is. They don't disappear in December and return in January. It seems much more plausible to me that a bunch of 2016-related material that was deleted should be restored (if souceable) to cover the overall "great smog of Delhi" history. It's misleading to suggest this is an issue that just appeared in 2017, and certainly don't need two+ articles about the same topic. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ >ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ< 18:35, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
- Natturajavu → Naatturajavu (currently a redirect back to Natturajavu) (move · discuss) – Original title shown in film - Title at 1:27. Let There Be Sunshine (talk) 18:02, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
- Caroline Criado-Perez (currently a redirect to Caroline Criado Perez) → Caroline Criado Perez (move · discuss) – correction Ian E Brice (talk) 18:17, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
Contested technical requests
- Louie (U.S. TV series) (currently a redirect to Louie (American TV series)) → Louie (TV series) (currently a redirect instead to Louie) (move · discuss) – An editor recently moved Louie (TV series) to Louie (U.S. TV series) despite the fact that a request move from last year resulted in "no consensus". At the very least, a new discussion should be had first before any move is made. Thus, the article should be moved back to its original name. This move has also resulted in probably hundreds of articles linking to disambiguation pages because of the move. Drovethrughosts (talk) 13:43, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
- That "resulted in probably hundreds of articles linking to disambiguation pages because of the move" is a rationale for cleanup of links, not a rationale against or for a move. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ >ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ< 18:39, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
