Zindagi Ki Mehek (English: Life of Mehek) is an Indian Hindi soap opera television series, which aired on September 19, 2016 & broadcast on Zee TV. The series is aired weekdays. The series is produced by Parin Media of Saurabh Tewari.

Samiksha Jaiswal and Karan Vohra are playing the main leads.

Plot

The story of the show depicts the journey of a home maker. The story revolves around the passion of food and the love story of Mehek Sharma and Shaurya Khanna, who live their lives in different ways. Shaurya is rich and wealthy restaurateur while Mehek is middle class girl. Cooking is her hobby and passion which she inherited from her dead mother. Everyone is fond of her food. She is asked to participate in a competition, India Super Cook competition by her family to impress her potential to her would be in laws. This competition is coincidentally judged by Shaurya Khanna. Unaware of each other, they had already met on a social networking site under different names. While Shaurya hates middle class behaviour, Mehek is as caring. As the competition starts, Shaurya instantly hates and judges Mehek for being a middle class girl. He is rude to her however, Mehek retaliates by insulting him. Shaurya gets furious as no one had spoken to him in such harsh behaviour but he plans avenge his insult. His first step towards the revenge is getting Mehek's uncle locked up. Mehek realizes that this fiasco is plotted by Shaurya. She requests Shaurya for her uncle's freedom but Shaurya has condition that is to dance with him. Mehek is left with no choice but to accept. Later, Shaurya changes the competition's location as a part of his plan. He reveals the destination of next round of competition and that is Agra, the city of love. Mahek's family doesn't want her to go alone there so she asked to quit the competition. But Mahek decides to escape leaving behind a letter which states that she is going to Agra for her self-respect. Once Mahek reaches Agra, Shaurya makes her drink alcohol and she reacts in a completely intoxicated manner. Shaurya arranges media to record and spread the video all across. The video goes viral and when Mahek gets to know of it, she slaps Shaurya. Mahek, in rage, quits the competition that instance. Shaurya realizes his mistake and apologizes to Mahek. She forgives him and then their relationship takes another turn. Meanwhile, Ajay and his mother get greedy of Mahek's prize money and propose her for marriage, again. Even though the whole family disagrees, Mahek agrees to marry Ajay due to her grandfather's stubbornness. Shaurya gets uneasy knowing that Mahek is about to be married as he starts to feel for her. He warns Mahek of her fiancé time and again because of his ill-mannered behaviour but Mahek turns a deaf ear everytime. On the other hand, Mahek's cousin Nehal is sad as she had a secret affair with Ajay. Ajay rejects Nehal and warns her about leaking her pictures if she reveals about them to her family. Nehal attempts to commit suicide however, she is saved by Shaurya. Later Ajay and Pammi organise Mehek and Ajay's mehendi at Shaurya's lawn after which Shaurya makes Ajay drink and records a video of Ajay telling the truth about the wedding in his drunkard state. Shaurya, on the day of Sangeet reveals the truth and the wedding is cancelled.

Mehek gets a new job as chef in a big hotel run by Shaurya's business enemy KD. Unknown of this fact, Shaurya and Rajiv approach Mehek for a job offer. Shaurya gets sad knowing about Mehek's new job but he lets her to continue it. Later with fall of events Mehek and Shaurya develop feelings for each other and they confess it. Shaurya's mom Karuna invites the Sharma family to their house for marriage proposal. But Svetlana and Khannas insult and humiliate Sharmas which makes Mehek cancel the wedding. Seeking apology from Mehek and to retain their relationship, Shaurya comes to Sharma house to live amongst them. He is challenged by Mehek to live like a middle class person for 5 days in order to win her back. He readily accepts however, circumstantially fails. But this does not break his confidence and keeps trying. This results in Mehek forgiving him and accepting his proposal. Eventually their wedding date is fixed. On the other hand, Shaurya's aunt and uncle want to stop the wedding and after a lot failed attempts, on the wedding day, they decide to drug Shaurya and throw him into the swimming pool to let him drown. Mehek has an extremely bad feeling when she does not see Shaurya. Shaurya doesn't show up for the wedding. However, it turns out that his aunt and uncle didn't manage to kidnap him. No one in the family knows where Shaurya has disappeared leaving a very distressed Mehek. Later Mehek comes to know that Shaurya went abroad to promote his new restaurant. Mehek also realises that Shaurya manages to take away Mehek's recipes and gets patents against them. Mehek is broken with the fact that Shaurya did everything to avenge her and for those recipes.

After managing to find out about the reason of his betrayal, Mehek realises that Shaurya is soft by heart but he restricts everything because of his bitter childhood incidents. Mehek goes to the Khanna household to make Shaurya realise his mistakes and love for her. In front of everyone, she states him as her husband which makes Shaurya furious. Karuna declares that Mehek will stay in the Khanna house. Thus, Shaurya and Mehek start having bittersweet fights.

Every time Mehek tries to help Shaurya, he bad mouths at her and reciprocates her love with hatred. Fed up of Mehek's sweet nature and caring personality, Shaurya decides to force her out of his life. However, each attempt brings him closer to Mehek and he falls for her. In between the bittersweet fights and arguments, Mehek's best friend Sonal is arranged to be married to an abusive man who starts beating her up even before they are married. Mehek realizes the hardship Sonal is going through and decides to stop the wedding by talking to Sonal's mother. But the mother is resilient and says that no one would marry a girl who is aging. It is better if she gets married at a young age. Mehek tries every thing possible but in vain. Mohit, Mehek's brother, loves Sonal and wants to stop the wedding but is not backed by the family. He turns to Shaurya for help and he plans to get them eloped. Unaware of the plan, the Sharma family is taken aback when they see the news channels airing the wedding ceremony of Mohit and Sonal in Shaurya's restaurant. Mehek with her uncle and aunt try reaching the location before they are declared married fail to do so. Her uncle starts beating Mohit up for doing something that would possibly tarnish their image in the society. After witnessing the entire scenario, B.D suffers a heart attack and is rushed to the hospital. Unable to bear the entire situation, Mehek's uncle, considers Shaurya responsible for everything going on. He goes to his restaurant and destroys everything. Shaurya reaches when everything is broken down. Shaurya is infuriated and this makes him want to do something similar to him. The next day, Shaurya orders to destroy the Sharma shops. Mehek pleads Shaurya to stop with the destruction but he doesn't listen. Now an enraged and heartbroken Mehek had enough of Shaurya's antics and decides to leave him but before going she says something that hurts him deeply. When Mehek gets going, he feels overwhelmed and this makes him realise her value in his life. He tries apologising and stopping but she does not nudge. Upon getting that response, he questions her about the chuda that she's wearing as a sign for the marriage and asks her that if she doesn't want to be in a relationship then why is she valuing it. Mehek breaks the chuda and goes back to her house. Next day, Shaurya goes to Mehek's house and demands to talk to Mehek alone. They have a heated argument and then Shaurya gives her the divorce papers. Mehek accepts all conditions and signs the papers. This leaves Shaurya furious as his plan backfired.

Mehek open ups an eatery right in front of Shaurya's White Chillies Restaurant. Her business is well accepted and she starts to gains profit. Mehek begins to dislike Shaurya but he begins to realise his mistake and what he has lost. Mehek not having permission to keep her restaurant due to safety and health reasons, goes to Mathura for the fire drill training. Ajay and Rohit, Mehek and Sonal's ex fiancés to reach the location and start eve teasing Mehek. But Shaurya reaches on time and gives back to them. Both of them decide to teach Shaurya and Mehek a lesson. That night, they attack Shaurya to leave him bleeding and then kidnap Mehek. In a drunken state, they take Mehek in the jungle and start molesting her. She tries escaping but of no use. Shaurya searches for her but does not seem to find her. He drives past a jungle and spots their car. He reaches in the nick of the time and saves Mehek. Unfortunately, Mehek is hit in the stomach which makes her bleed. He tries stopping the bleeding but fails. He takes her to the nearby gurdawara as the hospital is far off, the priests help them by giving herbal concoctions to them. Kanta and Ravi are called by Jeevan once he finds Shaurya and Mehek missing. They find them in the morning and looking at their clothes drenched in blood, they blame Shaurya for it and take Mehek away. This leaves Shaurya heartbroken.

After a couple of days, there comes a family with a marriage proposal for Mehek. Sonal, Mehek's best friend, tells Shaurya about this. Shaurya arrives on time and kisses Mehek in front of everyone. This makes the family shocked. Mehek's aunt signs a complaint against Shaurya and he ends up in jail but gets bailed. Shaurya is heartbroken as Mehek does not show any sort of reciprocity. He gets determined to make sure that Mehek realises that she loves him. All of his plans go according to his expectations and Mehek begins to like Shaurya, again. This led to attempts taking by Shaurya to make Mehek fall in love again but in the process, unknowingly hurts the Sharma family.

Once, Mehek confesses that she too has feeling for him, the Sharma family gives in as that was what would make Mehek happy. Mehek's aunt pretends to agree to get Shaurya & Mehek married but she starts to plot against Shaurya and tries her best to make Mehek dislike Shaurya by doing everything she can. She gets herself kidnapped and blames it on Shaurya. This incident crosses the limits and Mehek says that Shaurya could destroying anyone for his benefit and gets him arrested. However, Sonal and Mehek hear the conversation Kanta has with the kidnappers and she is in utter shock. She questions her aunt and she confesses that she did set up all this up so that Shaurya gets out of her life. Shaurya is badly injured after the beating of the police but get bailed. He is admitted to the hospital where Mehek reaches and breaks down after witnessing his condition. But after gaining conscious, Mehek leaves him and goes to Agra on the persistence of her aunt to start afresh. Shaurya is informed and he enters the Sharma house hold breaking everything as they were not giving in on telling Mehek's location. Amidst all this, he reveals Kanta's plans, leaving them all shocked. He reaches Agra in attempts to find her and he finds her in a restaurant and tries to convince her to comeback. After her denial, he swears to die without and leaves in a rush. Knowing him, Mehek does not take a chance and follows him. On the other hand, Svetlana had hired a few men to kill Shaurya in order to take his property. She planned a petrol leak that set his car on fire which she was successful in however, Mehek manages to pull Shaurya out before the car was completely set on fire. This incident makes them both realize that the value of each other. Hence, Mehek decides to stay with Shaurya and they leave for Delhi. The entire Sharma family and Karuna is happy seeing their children finally coming together except for Kanta. Mehek tries convincing her but she is adamant that Shaurya's impulsive behaviour would destroy their relationship and Mehek would have to suffer again. The family arranges for the prayer meet but Kanta does not show up. This hurts Mehek and not being able to witness Mehek's sadness, Shaurya decides to convince Kanta. He meets her and tries to persuade her however, she agrees but with a condition. As Shaurya is a focused hotelier, she asks him to name his entire property to Mehek. Shocked with the condition, he leaves. Kanta feels that she has defeated him however, Shaurya comes back the next day and asks for a private meet with Kanta. He hands her the papers and asks her to believe in him this time. She is stunned and comes out with a positive response for their marriage proposal.

He then arranges for a small party in his hotel. They all are excited for the new beginning but Karuna starts acting suspicious. Shaurya had arranged for a surprise and that was a cook book of Mehek's mother, Neera Sharma. Seeing the picture of her mother, Karuna is shocked. She is scared as Shaurya's past was coming back. With this, Shaurya's real grandmother, whom he thought was dead makes an entry. He is shocked and angry at his mother for hiding the truth. Little did he know that his grandmother is a wicked woman behind the money and has joined hands with Svetlana in the race of getting the money. Unaware of the fact that Shaurya has named everything for Mehek, both are shocked knowing this fact and blame Mehek for her plans. While all the drama, engagement day approaches and everyone is happy. However, after the party is over and the Sharmas are about to leave, Shaurya's father makes an entry and immediately disapproves the proposal as Mehek as she is not as rich. But Shaurya asks him to stay out of his personal matters to which he is answered with a slap. Mehek consoles him and says that she does not mind. He reveals the reason of his hatred towards his dad and that is because his father left his ill biological mother to die and married Karuna as she was rich. Although not his real mother, Karuna loved him like one. All celebrations arrive and everyone indulges into the wedding planning. While going towards the hotel where the wedding was planned, Svetlana again hires people to attack them all but Shaurya turns a savior. Shaurya then arranges for security and coincidentally comes in an officer who was related to Shaurya's dark past.

Whilst everyone is enjoying the ceremonies, Harish, Karuna, Nani and Svetlana are stunned to see the officer and try to strike a deal to keep his mouth shut. Later, Svetlana and Nani plant an explosive wire into Mehek's wedding veil which would set a fire once she is near it. Shaurya is infuriated with the incident and order to call the officer whose duty was to check everything. He is drunk in a bar and refuses to show up and this crosses Shaurya's rage limit and he himself goes and threatens him to which in a drunken state the officer calls him a criminal but before Shaurya could do anything, his brother takes him away to Mehek who is tensed. He calms her down and goes to meet the officer again. His mother tries stopping him but she is late and the officer reveals his secret. He reveals that Shaurya had killed Mehek's parents 12 years ago in a car accident. The officer leaves Shaurya in a shocked state. He denies getting married unless he tells Mehek about this. But Mehek asks him to sit in the dais and get married and that they could talk later. Helpless, Shaurya completes the rituals.

After the wedding, he tries telling her but situations don't allow him. Unfortunately, Mehek watches the conversation that was recorded through the camera planted in the wedding. She is shattered and blames Shaurya for cheating on her and lying to her about it. Unable to bear the pressure, she runs to her home but is not able to tell them her misery. Next morning, the police arrives at the Sharma household asking them to come to the police station. Tensed Kanta, Jeevan and Mehek reach and to their surprise, Shaurya is there standing and about surrender but Mehek saves him by lying that they had a tiff and he does not have to create a fuss out of it. Kanta and Jeevan are relieved. After reaching back home, Mehek says that she would pretend to be happy so that her family does not have to go through humiliation again. They prepare for the pag phera and are welcomed grandly by Mehek's family. Kanta senses uneasiness between the two but is unable to find out the reason and later, both of them start acting romantically. Before leaving, Kanta find a letter Shaurya wrote to Mehek confessing his crime and this leads to her telling everyone. The entire family is shocked and they kick Shaurya out. Jeevan, Ravi and Mehek's grandfather decide to re open the case. And the police arrests Karuna. This infuriates Shaurya as his mother is taken for something she did not do. He warns the family to take actions towards him and his family as he is the one who committed the crime. But after some time they reunite and face villains like ajay and nikita. But after many struggles get their property back. After the, they decide to go on honeymoon to Rishikesh, where Mehek witness the murder of a guy by Archie. When Mehak tells her about telling it to the police, Archie hits her on the head and throws her into the lake, resulting in her drowning to death. The story moves forward to an year, when Shaurya visits Rishikesh to relive the memories they had during the honeymoon. He comes across a boy called Neev.
