Yaashika Aanand (born 4 August 1999) also known as Yashika Anand is an Indian model and film actress of Punjabi roots who works predominantly in Tamil cinema.[1][2] She made her debut in the breakthrough film, Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru where she played the lead role as Shruti. She is more popularly known as a social media influencer and as a fashion model among the society. She was often compared to pornstar, Mia Khalifa in the social media after her performance in the adult horror film, Iruttu Araiyil Murattu Kuththu.[3]
Biography
Yaashika was born in New Delhi on 4th of August, 1999 and moved with her family in Chennai. She studied at the Sherwood Hall School in Chennai.[4][5]
Career
Yaashika Aanand made her acting debut in 2016 at the age of 17 after gaining popularity among the public as a model as well as an Instagram fame. She made it to the Kollywood industry after being a popular personality in Instagram with more than a million followers.[6] She eventually rose to prominence in the Tamil film industry after playing the vital role in the 2016 blockbuster film, Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru.[7]
She also acted in supportive roles in few films including Kavalai Vendam, Paadam before playing a lead role in the adult sex comedy film, Iruttu Araiyil Murattu Kuththu where she replaced Rashmi Gautam as the third main actress in the film.[8] After switching into act in the Gautham Karthik's film, IAMK she also received criticisms for choosing to act in an adult comedy film but she refused the criticisms and pointed out that Tamil film industry should have a mixture of films including the adult films and also explained that there aren't any wrongdoing by her in selecting to work for such a movie.[9]
She is also currently working on the upcoming bilingual political thriller film, NOTA which also stars Mehreen Pirzada and Vijay Deverakonda in the lead roles.[10]
Apart from film career, she also received an offer to take part at the first season of the Bigg Boss Tamil which was hosted by Kamal Haasan through Star Vijay. But she turned down the offer to pursue her filming career after Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru success and announced she might take part in the second edition of the Bigg Boss Tamil.[11]
